A lesson learned.

OK, I admit it, I waited too late. I have been vacillating on whether to buy a generator and now it's too late. A week or two prior to Dennis I decided that because of all the forecaster's saying that we (the OBX) were at risk again that I would buy a generator. Went to our local Home Depot and discovered that none could be had. I ask why, they stated that all were sent to Fla. Well Dennis is well past, so again, I go to Home Depot and was told that they do not foresee getting any until we get struck by a hurricane. So, I call Lowe's in Chesapeake, Va. Nope, same story. All state that generator manufacturers are working 24 7. I can find a whole house 15k 100 amp unit but they run around 3.5k plus install. Are there any Hampton roads members here that may know where I can purchase one (I can purchase a 3k unit at pep boys if I can't find anything else.

I saw some at Sear's hardware the other day. Also, check Sam's club.

There has to be some, SOMEWHERE! LOL!

We were in Sam's Club last week and there were SCADS of them. I mean, over 100, easily, even diesel.

Not sure if you have a Lowes in your area, but the one here in Melbourne, FL had a good supply of them the last time I was in there ( about a week ago ).

Alot of people do not know that Auto Zone have generators for sale.

You might want to also try Costco if you have any in your area. I know the one by my house had pleanty of them as of last week (maybe 40 -50). Good luck.

There are hundreds of generators for sale on Ebay. Some are really good buys.

Make sure you get a shipping quote before buying because some are
very heavy or they may be local pick up only.

We have some here. Oh wait I am one of the areas they probably shipped them too. I wish I could help you out there. I agree with trying ebay and finding someone in your area on their that you could drive and pick it up. Have you tried online like through their websites...

Check Sears.com and Homedepot.com - I know Sears is showing them online, and if you purchase it online, they should be able to ship to you or your local store, regardless of where you live

Hmm, I swear I posted a reply yesterday. Tks guys, had a major duh moment I guess. Completely forgot about Sears. Gave them a call and sure enough they had a 6kw 8.5 peak with 5 yr on site maint for 900.00. Now am safe and sound. It is also insurance against a hurricane because I now have one. It's ok with me if I never have to use it. Btw, they did say they are not getting any more until further notice.
