Homegrown? Naked circulation developing in GOM!!!!!!!

#1 Postby HouTXmetro » Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:46 pm

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT ... -loop.html

Joe-B an others have been hinting at a Low forming in the Gulf along the stalled frontal boundary. I have just checked the latest VIS and there is indeed a circulation south of the the AL/FL border. If you overlay the NHC frontal boundary on the map of above you will see exactly what I'm talking about. Is this what some have been hinting at? To me it's only a matter of time before convections starts to fire around it. I already TS on the right side developing.

Maybe you are not looking hard enough. Use the vis map I provided and overlay it with the NHC frountal boundary. If you look south of the AL/FL coast you can;t miss it with the overlay.

I only see a slight twist in the low clouds, and I wouldn't get excited about it being a TS yet.

Yeah, not much convection there. I have a feeling that will start to change soon if the cirulation get's stronger.

it's very broad and extremely disorganized. at this pace, it will take a long time to develop...

That's impressive that you spotted that. Once you're told where to look, it's obvious, but it's so faint I don't think I'd have otherwised noticed it.

It would also help to use the zoom button on the bottom of the screen and hit it twice where the frontal line is.

Thing is there's been some SWly flow to the south of that area and NEly flow to the north of it since yesterday. Convergence is just waiting to happen as is a split in the jet. Okay, maybe not, but the models have been putting a weak low in the area for 2 days now. :)

Danny formed when an intense MCS moved off the coast of Louisiana, persisted for a day, and then a circulation developed which soon became Danny. This is more like going from nothing to something out of thin air  , not saying it can't happen but I'm not expecting much.
