Who is going to get bowled over the next three months? I vote Saint Lucia, storms seem to like the southern track so far.

That is a tough one. A large intense storm moving through that area could have a great impact on many of the islands.

one more for Grenada and they can say that they doubled their number of cane hits in the last 12 months (3 ever recorded before Ivan, and 2 since)

The Antilles are offshore South America, as are the Venezuelan islands (whatever they are) and Trinidad and Tobago.

windrunner
is your post in answer to me about St. Maarten?
I was just joking about St Maarten not being listed .
however, FYI, let me correct your facts, and tell you where I live since I am a regular poster here.
St. Maarten,Saba, and St. Eustatia are part of the Netherlands Antilles and are NOT located offshore South America.
We would fall, I guess, in the Virgin Islands, St. Croix, Anguilla category you listed.
and, btw, St. Croix is part of the Virgin Islands..no need to list that separately actually.

I think the northern islands(Antigua, Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico etc.) could get hit big time this year.

Sorry about that msbee.
Under your avatar it says Netherlands Antilles. On my map, they are NE of L Maracaibo. Guess it's time to get rid of that map, I've had it since fifth grade :D

I found a bigger map - the Neth. Antilles (Curacao and Bonaire) are still off of SA but I see what you are saying, I'll change the poll real quick to get you in there - no problem :) .

edit: Actually, I just figured out you can't change a poll. Sorry about that, but yes, all of the Dutch and French islands in there can be considered with Anguilla for simplicity's sake. Sorry

it's no problem.
It confuses a lot of people because the Netherands Antilles are in 2 totally separate locations.

just wanted you to have the facts

The results seem strange - everyone (68%?) aims for the N islands. I'd like to see some more people voice an opinion here - that's why I'm replying. So vote! :)

Isnt that path similar to Floyd 99' but only to curve at the last second?

Floyd was further north. What happens, is the system moves west-northwest, then the trough tries to catch it, and it pulls northwest...then it misses the trough and pushes back west as the ridge builds in.

With a track like that i would say Antigua, Barbuda and Monserrat. They are obvious further east and about the same latitude to the north. I remember in 1995 they were the ones that took the brunt of the storms.

But the eastern Carribbean in general is in a very high risk in my belief. It looks like we going to have a lot of Cape Verde type systems.
