I think this one is very close to tropical depression status.

Here's a 15Z visible image. Definitley looks like a circulation center is developing in the vicinityh of 12.2N/28.4W. This is the wave that the GFS has been developing (and moving out to sea to the northwest)

All I can say is.....

I actually hope it develops and is a fish. That way, the "I" storm trend dies. And I am including that I hope it hits not even one island.

And I think this one has a chance to do so.

Here's a McIdas image from 15Z with 1 deg lat/lon lines plotted. It needs to move another 3-4 deg west so that it shows up fullly on the northern hemisphere satellite shots and not just the full disks.

well i am sure any slight development and we will have to hear 50 reasons why its going to threaten florida or become a Gommer storm. Its way to early to even speculate if this will develop into anything more than what it is now.The only thing for sure is that this is the best looking wave so far off the coast of Africa!

OK, from that perspective it looks like it is definately getting some banding and organizing. Might be time to restock the coffee.

Wxman47,

I hate to put you on the spot big time (trust me I do) but I have a question:

Is this wave extremely unlikely to be a threat to CONUS and only be worth watching from a scientific point of view?
