Least-threatening storm names currently on lists?

#1 Postby gilbert88 » Wed Aug 03, 2005 10:34 pm

I know it's irrelevant, but I'd like to see everyone's opinion on this. :D

IMO... the least threatening years on this year's list are Arlene, Franklin, Harvey, Phillippe, Vince (my name) and Wilma.

Honorable mentions for other years are Colin, Fiona, Joyce, Humberto, Claudette and Beryl.

(For some reason I think Arlene will never be retired. The Arlene/Bret/Cindy pattern sounds too "familiar" now, kind of a seasonal staple :D)

I actually have a vibe that Joyce could be the big one next year. And Humberto scares me more than just about any other name.

This year, I am least scared for some reason of Lee and Vince.

The top two names that don't bother me much til 2010.....

2006: Florence, Kirk
2007: Felix, Lorenzo
2008: Arthur, Ike
2009: Joaquin, Larry
2010: Fiona, Igor

Katrina doesn't strike me as being much of anything... probably like Bret and Gert.

Ophelia just sounds wrong...

Tammy, Vince, and Wilma all don't sound too bad... of course, we've never ever had a Tammy, Vince, Wilma so it's kinda hard to compare.

Irene gives me the creeps

I can easily image hearing this

"Irene now a catagory 5 storm is heading for the florida panhandle and expected to strike tonight"

I think Jose and Katrina will be Cape Verdes that are both equally nasty.

Katrina is going to be really bad, trust me. It's not just my guts, it's because the Global Fairy System suggests that the wave after 95L will develop, become Katrina, hit the northern Lesser Antilles, and then come toward southern Florida. Of course, I'm thinkin more of S. Carolina, but still, Katrina's bad news.

Back on topic here, the good storm this year seems to be Jose and/or Tammy. Otherwise, I can only think of bad storms, not good.

But...if 95L develops into IRENE...the wave after would be JOSE.
