Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 5, 2005
<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/guts20050805.jpg">
The only area not consumed with Saharan Dust and Dry Air is the Gulf of
Mexico. The GOM is moisture laden, with a tropical wave moving
westward across the Yucatan Peninsula, and a trough across the northern
GOM continuing to provide rainfall in most of the gulf coast states.
Dry air continues to try and head south across Mississippi and Louisiana.
The FSU MM5 model, one that is grossly bullish in my opinion, develops
this trough into a cyclone and heads toward the northeast to
Florida in the next few days. The odds of that are extremely low.
I do not expect tropical cyclone development in the GOM in the next 48 hours.
