How about TD 9 becoming Irene and staying a fish? That way we get on 9th storm and continue the march towards Alpha 8-) .

Ok!
I retract, we need something to track as long as it stays away from land that would be cool.

I'll support letting it become Irene, but only because memories of Irene '99 are still pretty fresh in people's minds down here. Not that it was a big, bad storm -- more of a rain event really -- but it would just seem weird to watch another Irene marching towards us, presumably bigger and badder.

(On another note, I also think six years is too short a time to be recycling names. I'd like to see them double that.)

showing us all that no matter how good we get, we still have alot to learn,
The East Coast is gonna be watching this one and preparing as well...stay tuned my friend.....

Oh the Irene from 1999 was amazing(not including the damage). I swear to you, I took out a weather poncho and walked around my complex that day and it was like love. Feeling the wind blowing in my face at 50-55mph sustained. It was like we were made for each other. Later on I went to drive around my town and watched as the winds were slowing reaching hurricane strenght. I swear the center of Irene moved directly over my house. We had a period of calmness and I even noticed it on the local weather news Radar. Irene was one Ill never forget.

Oh yeah, I remember it well. I wouldn't call it a scary hurricane by any means, at least not when compared to what we had to deal with last year. I was on the phone with friends of mine most of the time -- not a good idea in the lightning, now that I look back on it. My power was out, and I was getting the Braves playoff game relayed to me over the phone. The wind kicking up over the lake was quite refreshing, but don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing big storms my way. Oooh, no no no no no. The next morning, if you lived on the south side of the neighborhood, good chance you were bailing water out of your car.

-----
Edit: It's probably important to add that Irene's status as a hurricane when it got to Palm Beach is debatable. From everything I've heard, it's unlikely any part of the county got sustained hurricane force winds, and possibly not even gusts.

I dont like wishing bad on people but hey we need some excitement this season. Not that I am wishing a CAT 5 to come destroy florida but a exciting but none deadly hurricane that I can have some fun being in and monitoring. lol Oh wait there is no such thing as a none deadly but exciting hurricane. hmm. Dont know what to think then.

thats why i liked Irene in 1999. A cat1 hurricane. Im sure it was miserable for alot of people here in South Florida but it was not devestating. Cat 1 hurricanes I can deal with but not monsters.
