isn't the maintained wind speed always changing so that possibly means that emilly could have been a cat 5 for a couple minutes or so nurerous time

We are talking about Emily now yes that does it looks like it could Easily be a strong cat 5 there I kinda wish it was it would be the ultimate record SET

Identifies Typhoon Angela of 1995 and Typhoon Gay of 1992 as likely having been stronger than Tip.

Unfortunately Tip was so long ago you won't find pics of the quality that you're used to; I've looked.

Also it was simply so wide it's actually hard to encompass the whole storm in one shot.
