They bounce off each other, or rotate around each other - but don't merge...

Sometimes one will weaken the other and kill it off.

Sometimes the weaker one will get absorbed into the stronger one. I think Karen was absorbed by Iris back in 1995.

Usually, one will inhibit development in the other. However, if the inhibiting storm moves away, the weaker storm may start to develop.

Example: In 1996, Fran struggled to develop because Edouard kept causing any convection to be sheared away from Fran.

However, when Edouard recurved away from Fran, Fran quickly strengthened.

Also, didn't Lisa last year come very close to being destroyed by Karl?
