Looks like Irene is growin' and goin' --- westward. She looking better all the time:

She still looks to be undergoing some shear. She is however, holding her own fairly well right now.

It does look more impressive now than it did last night. Irene may have a trick up her sleeve. I guess where she heads all depends on how strong the High is.

It's amazing how far west she has gotten already...if she strengthens more, she should definitely move even more west and will continue to increase the threat to FL and the east coast.

If she continues West, she might even entertain the thought of making a visit to Florida on her way to th GOM

It's very possible considering how the ridge is strengthening by the minute....wasn't Andrew in a similar position (of course Andrew was alot stronger at this point)?

It's possible but it's way too far out now to know where it will hit (if it will even hit)...but it's actually losing lattitude still and could easily impact FL given that models are trending towards a stronger Bermuda High to exist later in the forecast period.

A good burst will put high tops into the steering winds and take it WNW...

I'm not sure about this... I still say it's got a much better chance of turning out to sea before reaching the coast. I also don't think it would bother Florida if it were to hit the U.S. and I don't see this becoming a hurricane, or certainly a powerful one. Conditions just aren't that favorable.

I think even at this point Florida on up to Maine could be affected by Irene... its STILL pretty up in the air...
