North Korea breaks non nuclear pact with South Korea

This means that the pact between the 2 Koreas about a nuclear free Korean Penninsula is dead giving the way for the north to build nuclear bombs without any treaty or pact and this action by North Korea what it does is escalate big time the tensions between the US and North Korea.

Let's pray that another war doesn't come with this but I see this situation going into military action by the US bombing the Yongblon plant and if the US goes there the north will start the invasion to the south and war will start because I dont see that reconciliation is there between the US and the north unless the north changes it's position and stop building the nukes and I see that far from reallity.

But I hope that China convince the North Koreans that it is in their best interest to get rid of the nukes and open up to the real world as that country is a close society.

I have to agree with Stephanie, North Korea has already broken all of it's nuclear agreements. This was really just for the media attention and another attempt to blackmail Washington. They better watch how far they push the President. He was a way of pushing back!

This is true - but I'm REALLY afraid of pushing back NK with their nuclear arsenal. I realize that we could obliterate them with ours, but we're talking NUCLEAR WEAPONS. :o

Yes Stephanie talking of nuclear bombs is a very different animal :o than Iraq because Iraq didn't have nukes to throw to the US troops during the war.

Their nuclear threat right now is based on an unproven missile system. In order for it to be used it woould have to be staged and armed. These actions are observable from satellite resources. If this missile were to show being prepped then a pre-emptive strike could be targeted against the system. A bigger danger is to allow N Korea to continue to produce nukes for export. As one of the largest exporters of arms already, a nuclear weapon would be an addition to their list of arms for sale that we can't allow them to add.

This is a dangerous situation but I still think that North Korea is just pushing for economic aid.

Yes that is what they want but the US wont be fooled again after they agreed in 1994 about closing the plant but then last october they broke that agreement.

And what you said Marshall about the selling of nukes to terrorists and countrys is the most worrisom thing about this.

I noticed a cargo ship from Australia laden with wheat for the North Korean people docking in the news today...I doubt if the common family will ever see a cup of it.

Meanwhile, North Korea's army looks fit and well-fed, and Kim Jong-Il could stand to lose a few (hundred) pounds as well.
