Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 9, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/guts20050809.jpg">

A big upper level low is over the southern Gulf of Mexico, and is slowly
changing the dynamics in the gulf. A few days ago, the entire GOM was
covered with moist air, now we see dry air in the SW GOM and near
the Keys. The flow around this ULL is causing convection to fire up on
the eastern part of the Yucatan peninsula, and is assisting with the
storms over the Florida Peninsula as well. This ULL will not develop into
a tropical cyclone.

Our favorite little surface low just south of Pensacola continues to sit
there and do nothing, except promote more rain over the Florida
Peninsula and Panhandle, south Alabama and Mississippi, as well as
southeastern Louisiana. This system will continue to sit there for the
next few days and will not develop into a tropical cyclone.
