It was 99 cents in Atlanta when I graduated from college... in 1999. :D

At the same time it was 69 cents in Oklahoma!

I'm glad someone else remembers it being that low that recently. It was little as 63 cents at RaceTrack gas stations here on the island back then...for a short time. :)

I remember when a buck would buy 3 gallons. Of course, that was when muscle cars were big, so they sucked the tank dry as fast as you could put it in.

The impact of high fuel prices is on the brink of starting a new rate of inflation. Our surcharges and fuel costs for paper here at the printing plant are growing fast....and in turn, we are passing those costs on to our clients, who in turn must deal with it in regards to distribution of their printed product.

I'm in favor of dramatic investment into new energy technologies, but I am also hearing that the new hybrid vehicles produce some serious waste biproducts...solving one problem to create another.

If nothing else, I will more than suggest that the use of the internet for more and more energy-saving miles-reducing reasons will continue to grow.

I haven't seen a gas pump yet with an application for a second mortgage on it....but the impact is growing every time the sign on the corner goes up another nickel.

...and one more thing. (I do realize we don't have a political forum any more BUT) As oil prices surge, so does our patience in the Middle East. There IS a dollar figure (although I don't know what it is) whereby the cost of control of that oil becomes worth the international risk.

Enough about that.

Ugh...everytime i need to fill up my car the price goes back up. I'm doomed!!!!!!!!! :raincloud: I'll be paying $2.39/gallon for midgrade. Can't use the cheapest in my car and i refuse to pay $2.49/gallon for the high grade.

Most gas stations around here are almost if not, even well over $2.50 for premium..

I'd say the average regular unleaded price now is around $2.26

I'm glad I don't drive right now.. But this is getting ludicrous

A week ago i was mowing the yard..I went inside to get a drink of water and came out and a guy was running to a car with my gas tank...I actually got the tag number and I called the cops...About a hour later a cop brought my gas tank back empty he found it on a road...He said its happening everywhere their even going into open garages in broad day light stealing gas cans for the gas...He said teenagers used to goto gas stations and steal gas but know everyone is pre-pay... Never did hear back from the cops if they found the car...

I can remember 99 cent gas(and even a bit lower), and it wasn't all that long ago.

I almost gagged driving home from the airport today to see the gas prices. The low grade was $2.45, the mid grade was $2.35, and the high grade was $2.49. Diesel was $2.55.

(Yes, our mid grade is cheaper than the low grade thanks to a cost kick back to those corn producing states.)

It used to be a big story... it's just now it's not news anymore. Everyone's gotten used to it.

It's already above $3 a gallon out in California BTW(at least).

The average over here reached £0.90 per litre the other day. (This translates to about US$7.1 using the measurements you are all using) Anyway this doesn't seem that expensive given it is always at least 80p per litre. Petrol has always been expensive over here compared to abroad. (Over 80% of that is tax)

It's really just not that big of a deal, despite the way people seem to react. Let's do some math:

Say you drive a car that gets 20 mpg (which is quite low) and you drive 20,000 miles per year (which is quite high). You would use 1,000 gallons of gasoline per year. At $3.00 per gallon, that's still only a $3000 per year expenditure (about $250 per month). While annoying, this is hardly a crippling expense. And remember, this is for a gas guzzler being driven a lot of miles in a year.

Gas is a CHEAP Commodity, when you factor inflation into the equation. I told people to buy energy stocks five years ago, but they wanted the DOT BOMBS.

You want Inflation, try College Tuition! Gas is peanuts compared to sending a son or daughter to a Private College/University. :D
