DT is now saying this is a big threat from the Central FL coast to the Carolinas. As in major threat. I definitely wouldnt doubt that.

Thanks. I was wondering about that. I've got enough message boards to follow now, but I use S2K as my primary storm board. Is it my imagination about this storm or are we going to be listening to poor Mike W doing 24/7 coverage again early next week??????

It is just a replay of Andrew--every Met wants to replay Anderw, which was an extremely unusual senario. Most likely is still a recurvature, and a turn NW to North later in the forecast period. Sensationalism doesn't play in this situation, and stating that Irene is LIKELY to be a major at this point just ins't founded in science--it is bordering on irresponsible, given a tropical depression, and less than ideal conditions for rapid intensification,

Tell about it I move here in 92 from fla not one storm came through in the 8 -9 years I lived there. Moved here to NC only 40 miles from Wilm and have through a lot. Lost my home in 1999 to floyd. That was the last one for here. So With that said it is time again.

That forecast is not likely to verify--I trust the NHC.

You do realize NHC is showing a west track at the end of their forecast? Thats right along DT's thoughts.

Irene looks like she is weaker then that invest 94L(Unnamed tropical storm that hit the outterbanks on 26th of June) There is no putting them together. Because Irene looks sick.

Irene looks like she's sputtering right now, convection dying.
