I saw him on CNN he seemed like he was just doing it for publicity and didn't really care about getting trans-fatty acids out of our food.

it is part of a larger agenda. they will attack every food they dont like, meat, cookies, mcdonalds, until they make the food too expensive for those companies to make. they will use the courts to impose govt control over what we eat. it is coming. a police state is not as far away as people think.

I would hope common sense intervenes before it gets that far. Which I am sure it will.

People have been talking about a "police state" for decades. It hasn't happened yet and isn't about to IMO. We love our freedoms too much here to allow it to happen. You want to see a police state, try some world travel, it is a real eye opener!

Why is it that it always has to end up as a lawsuit?!? To eliminate Oreos from kids is like taking away childhood from them!!! Yeah okay...if a kid eats about 20,000 cookies a day for a long period of time, then yes he/she is probably going to suffer from some long term illness due to the unatural ingrediants, not to mention how much weight you will gain from them. You know....when people say you need to be on a "diet" or completely cut the "bad stuff" out of your life, don't go to the extreme and have health drinks, vegetables, cut your carbs, "protein diet is the only way"!!..do it gradually, have you ever heard the term "Balance diet"?? Have your "bad stuff" with the "good" So have a plan... Weekends = goto town - have your meat and potatoes, chocolate (all the good stuff we know it as), and then come the week, cut it out - "Eat your Greens" - drink only water maybe..... anyway my point is... don't bring a Lawsuit into this about Oreo cookies for kids, but just make sure they limit the amount they have and don't tell me it can't be done, it can be - easily!

But you know, I did agree with one thing he said, and that was changing to maybe the "Newmans own" brand which I have to say, I use alot of.

Wow... I can get pretty powerful when I want to!! heehe just don't get me started on this sort of thing!!! Somebody stop me!!!! lol

see ya! :)

it starts small and expands. just check how much you are taxed. look at laws that wont allow crticism of elected officials 60 days befor an election.
look at agencies that wont allow people to sell or improve their land. it is not far off when a burger at mcdonalds is taxed 10 times its actual value.
our freedoms are slipping away as we do nothing

Basically, it all comes to one thing:

Moderation folks. You eat a little of this, a little of that. Not an entire pie, one slice. Not a whole package of Oreo's, just 2 or 3. Throw in some fruit, veggies and a good dinner. Some milk too. Not a lot of soda.

But no in this country we are taught or almost encouraged to size-up when ordering at McDonald's, just for one fast food example. For 50 cents more you can make that 22oz. soda, a whopping 50 oz. soda. I know I'm exaggerating a bit, but where on earth do you put that huge drink cup when you drive off? See the problem? I recently read that food portions we receive in restaurants now are nearly double what they used to be. Look at the size dinner plates too! Go to an Olive Garden, order a regular sized dinner meal, have the salad and yummy breadsticks too and just try to finish that meal! You can't! And then the waiter makes you feel all guilty - still eating? Yeah, numbnut, how about eating the rest for lunch the next day too? Doggy bag please.

Wow, don't get me started too, as Cy said. We have a serious problem in this country with food consumption. I remember picking at my food as a kid and now my youngest does that. Yes, she's skinny but I'm not about to shove food down her throat. Eating on the light side is actually quite healthy.

That's the real problem - parents should set examples on moderation and then silly lawsuits like this wouldn't even be an issue. Oreo's aren't the problem here......I love an Oreo just like the next person.

govt regulation is spreading throughout our lives. how long will it be before mcdonalds cant advetise on television?

"Need more reasons? Fine, let me ask you this question. How do your view yourself? Are you an independent and individual American who enjoys freedom and economic liberty? Do you believe our government is getting just a wee bit too large? Try this. Tell me one activity you will engage in today that will be free of some type of federal regulation. Our founding fathers felt that, in times of peace, about 95% of governing should occur at the local lever, with 5% coming from the federal level. The reality of governance today would be a severe disappointment to the men and women who gave so much to protect our freedoms and establish our republican form of government. They felt that you should be as close to your elected officials as possible, the better to keep an eye on what they’re up to. Well, that’s not the way things are today. Almost all governmental decisions are made by bureaucrats in Washington. Your local city councilman can’t pave a sidewalk without federal involvement. In order to bring your government back to your community you have to starve the beast. This means cutting funding to that beltway monstrosity that controls you from afar. Government is like fire. A great friend when controlled, a fearsome enemy when out of control. To fight a fire you remove its fuel. The fuel feeding the raging spreading fire of our federal government is money. Take some of that fuel away. Call your U.S. Senator."

This line of discussion reminds me of "Edgar Friendly"s tirade in "Demolition Man"...

"Maybe I just might want to smoke a fat, Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in a no-smoking section; or walk down the street eating a greasy hamburger and reading a Playboy with my naked body covered in green Jell-O, WHY? Because I just might FEEL like it, OK?

"You live up top, you do things Cocteau's way; how he wants it, when he wants it. You come down here...and maybe you starve to death."

I LIKE this character...

With all the Oreo cookies I gave my kids growing up does that mean I am subject to child abuse allegations?
