National Science Foundation Study

A three million dollar study by the National Science Foundation is hoping to find out how hurricanes work. . . .

Researchers are using the money to learn why sudden changes occur in the intensity of hurricanes.
The study will focus on the interaction between a storm's outer rain bands and the eye in relation to its strength.
Planes will fly into hurricanes for the rest of the season with Doppler Radar and Global Positioning Technology.
They will record wind speed, direction, temperature and other data to help build new computer models of hurricanes.

MAJOR correction to the article

It's a RSMAS (University of Miami) study that is funded by the National Science Foundation

Considering where this info came from WEAR TV is not my favorite news station on the Coast. It doesn't shock me that they misquoted important info like that.
