actually the easterlies here are directly related the the Bermuda ridge which will ultimately steer Irene. If we are seeing a deeper Easterly flow here, it means the ridge is building and Irene may not curve as quickly.

It may not even curve they still don't know what its going to do There seems to be alot of people just writing this storm off as an automatic fish storm when it may not be we just have to watch and see what happens!

I agree, Irene is moving almost due west. I think the NW movement was just a temporary jog.

Its not moving west, its moving WNW - NW, around 290 to 300. Look at NHC discussion. Look at water vapor floater and shortwave floater, you can see the center a little easier. The convection building to the W and SW of the center gives the illusion of a western movement.

well they have been well left of the guidance models the whole time, can't see why they would be embarassed, IF it does hit Ga etc, seems like the computer models need more work

The NHC doesn't even know where the center is at? I think its turned more W but still WNW at this point...realistically it's probalby temporary...it will be back at 300 soon.

Be careful dwg71. If you don't agree with the people who think it's moving west you'll be assumed to be blind.

IMO, it's clearly not moving west, but rather WNW and now that you can see the center more clearly, the movement is a lot easier to see.
