Pojo leaving for desert deployment....

#1 Postby pojo » Fri Aug 12, 2005 9:30 pm

Just to let you guys know, I will be deployed in the desert for 4 months... I don't know if I'll be able to access this webpage on a .mil computer from over in the desert. I've tried here in Charleston and it didn't work. I do have someone lined up for emails.... that way I can still keep in touch with you guys.

As of right now, it doesn't look like I'll be in a danger zone, however, its not guaranteed that I'll stay out of the hostile zones.... we will be loading the planes for the hostile zones and depending on my job over there, I may be asked to assist the flight crew in the other zones around the desert. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll stay in one place during the activation period.

I leave 25 Aug... you should be able to do the math on when I'll approx return.

Shannon :)

We never ever stop learning in our lives. This will be both a serious resonsponsibility and a rich learning experience for you.

You will never look at this country the same again when you return.

Take care and be safe. And remember, in the most difficult of situations, sometimes humor can get you through, sometimes thoughts of family and friends can get you through, and sometimes it is as simply as looking up and seeing the same sky, the same stars as the rest of us!

God Bless you and THANK YOU. If you can get an address back to the forum once you are settled, I would like to send you a care package as a token of my appreciation and support.

I bet lots of other Storm2kers would like to do the same.

Take care, and be blessed,

FYI... here is an address for you

SrA Smith Shannon
8 EAMS/TROL
APO AE 09309

I don't know if TROL is right (this is the position I have now), however, once I get over there, I'll pass along the changes. I'm not sure if I'll be in the position I currently hold right now... I go where the need is.

Please take into consideration, mail/packages take approx 2 weeks for delivery. To ensure I get the packages/mail please try to send before Dec 1st... This is to make sure I get it before I leave to come home.

Email is the best option.
shannon.smith@generalmitchell.af.mil

Thank you for your support... this means a lot. From a soldiers' eyes receiving care packages in the mail is like christmas or finding that elusive pot of gold. We understand what times our live over yonder, yet we still want to keep in touch with our homeland, and our loved communities
