I agree. Besides these officers have also lost everything and may not know where their families are and if they are alive. It isn't what we want to think of police but after 5 days anyone would be a wits end.

Sorry, it's a disgrace. There are many, many other folks out there in the same situation who are working their tails off.

I've heard that a significant number drowned on the job, some quit, and some walked off the job after running out of ammo, no communations, armed thugs all over the street, and having worked 60 hours non-stop.
Don't knock too hard on public servants. It's not good policy by those who are served by them.

Last night, a good deal of the police just barricaded themselves up in their station. The firefight with the street-anarchists went on through the night. Yes, they actually did run low on ammo. There was a CNN reporter who decided to attach himself to them.

Well, I can twist it towards a more positive note. If they quit, then maybe someone(one of the smarter ones) will eventually convince the govenor to ask for more assistance and have martial law declared.
