By the way, it's now TS Maria, TD 14 has intensified. As you said, there is nothing worry about with this system since it's looking like a fish already. But, we have to keep an eye on her until everyone is cleared, especially Bermuda!

Fish... Always keep an eye on it, but it's very far north already.

ON THIS TRACK..MARIA WILL BE MOVING OVER OPEN

I don't either... but I think if it were to be a U.S. threat... it would be pretty far north and not the Gulf or Florida... I'd put the chances at less than 10% right now... nothing in weather is ever definite.

if I remember correctly yesterday one of the models had it stop before canada and come into Maine! so yes it is possible!

I'd put chances of a US hit at near zero based on climo alone. Since 1851, not a single TC moving NWerly at any point while east of 48W has ever come back to hit the U.S. That stat speaks volumes in my opinion. This TC did just that.

I think it will become a hurricane. There's a CDO already over the center.
Probably some rough surf for the East Coast next week, at the very least.

120hr nogaps makes landfall for Maria over Nova Scotia as it interacts with a potent s/w trough. Rather close to Maine. But the Canadian Maritimes are much more likely to get hit than the US mainland.

If anything is threatning Canadian waters, I would imagine the CHC will be issuing a statement on Maria probably today at 3pm. If anything is made of, I will bring it to you.

Considering the term 'fish' is a nontechnical, absurd way to describe a system that stays in open waters...I seriously doubt that the NHC will ever say 'Maria is a fish.'

But to answer your question, things can change, but most likely won't.
