I know it's early, but what could Houston be looking at right now? My aunt and uncle are Katrina refugees down there.

based on latest gfdl, probably cat 2 sustained or higher depending on landfall intensity.
Houston is very big, according to the local mets Southern portions of the city proper may experience 110-130mph winds. While the Northside could see 90-105mph winds.

We were told SW of Bellaire to prepare for about 100-120mph winds, depending on landfall. Our house isn't looking too good, seeing as we had trouble during Alicia, according to my parents. But they're sticking it out, much to my chagrin. I, however, am in a cement dorm room in Bryan/College Station. With much ducktape on my windows.

And good luck everyone!
Can't do much else. We have "college regulations" preventing us from too much more. I'm hoping if I ducktape and tape a blanket over the window and over the blinds, it'll at least keep the glass from flying in the room long enough for me to grab essentials. The most important stuff is already packed and near the door if I have to run out at any given time.

Bellaire is now in a voluntary evac zone. And for you- if it gets bad, get into the hallway fast.

There has to be a special place in hell for people who create and enforce such regulations in the face of a category 5.
IF models and NHC track continue east, houston is looking good. A hit near border or further west and houston would be spared. Storm is heading north of nhc track so its reasonable to believe that its going to continue.
