Rita part II......back in the gulf???

#1 Postby SotabusterFL » Sat Sep 24, 2005 10:50 am

Judging by the BAM, GFDL, and Joe Bastardi there appears to be a decent shot of Rita re-emerging in the GOM. Do the other models follow the BAM and GFDL? If re-emergence occurs where will Rita go?

I'd like to see the models (not the weather underground ones) if anyone could post a link, I keep losing it.

Thanks.

Way too early to know, she will be over land for at least the next 3days.

See how GFDL takes it back into GOM around Mississippi/Alabama border

Worst case senario Rita re-emerges and stalls in GOM.....where it will go nobody knows. Any potential troughs to pick it up?

Not to mention the BAM and GFDL are bringing Rita back into GOM farely close to New Orleans which would make the situation go from bad to worse delaying any progress that needs to be made. I pray that the remaining levees will hold

If Rita would re-emerge into the GOM, the good news is that I don't think it could reach major cane strength again. It would be more of a rain-maker than anything else...I hope.

This is a subject and topic we'll need to watch

This confirms the utter worthlessness of most models. The system isn't going back in the Gulf--it is going to linger, and be a rainmaker for the entire region, unfortunately. Once again, it shows that the models need improvement, and do not reflect any semblance of forecasting reliability. Is anybody else still waiting for Rita to hit Mexico, or extreme South Texas Gulf?

It would be so weird if Rita came back into the Gulf. I remember that Ivan did it last year but it still would be so weird, so its not impossible for it to happen.

Such a track situation is not exactly unprecedented in the annals of hurricane history.

All you did was bash the models, you didn't give any good reasons to why Rita wouldn't go back into the Gulf.

sorry but I cannot remember - we did have a storm do something similar last season didn't we? I seem to remember something redveloping into a TS?

Also first time I have been able to log on since this morning (at work). Glad to see everyone is OK - from what I can see so far - need to catch up.
