Hey, I'm sorry about the people on the Gulf Coast, but we have no control on what happens, lets talk about what to expect for winter across the USA. You know Christmas is just around the corner..

I expect Syracuse, NY will remain the snowiest city with a population of 100,000 or more in the US. :P

And I expect to experience tremors, hallucinations, and hot sweats as I go through snow withdrawl here in NC. :)

What a wonderful first day of fall it was here in Northcentral Texas as we hit a record high of 101!! burrr..... I'm glad Summer is over.....

A cold front is coming and may drop temps down into the lower 80's by next week and with the rain we may receive from Rita it sure will seem like fall for me. 8-)

(Had to sled in from the tropical battlefield)... SNOW  Oh man. I haven't seen it in over twenty years. What the heck is wrong with me! It is great to visit here, and find some like-minded fans of changing seasons and even the bite of snow and ice. Seriously, I THRIVE in it.

Hey, if you want to see/read a beautiful and unforgettable tribute to winter, find a copy of Winter by Pierre Berton. Breathtaking photos and writing that touches the very soul. Priceless stuff. Borders had these (hardcovers) for just four dollars. I bought one, saw what it really was and rushed back but they were all gone! Still, it's out there, and worth even the original cover price!

Literally, stay COOL, folks. This forum is so refreshing. :P

You are all welcome to come on up here to Michigan's little finger and take all you want from my driveway and roof this winter. There's usually plenty to spare :cold:

I do not like winter. I don't like the cold, snow, and ice. Our winters for the past 12 years have not been too bad tho. The biggest storm we've had was an ice storm in late Jan. 2002. I think that the biggest snowfall at one time was less than 10 inches. Mist of our winters haven't even seen normal snowfall.. 21 inches.

well last year here in ocala we had a record breaking 26 degrees....we are so close to the low lands of the ocala national forest that the cool air just seems to sit here....so im wondering if we will have another bunch of nights with record freezing temp. or not? seems like every few winters here in florida are colder than some.....weird  and i remember growing up as a kid wearing short sleeves on Christmas day ..cause it was too hot to wear the new sweater i got

Does this include England too?

We're expecting a big freeze advised by the Met office that was in the newspaper, with major blackouts. If this does happen, it hasnt happened for years! The weather is changing here in the UK.

Got up this morning to hear one of the local mets talking rain changing to snow Wed night. Not excited about this at all, waay too early. The leaves are just beginning to change. NWS is not showing it in their zones, so he may be jumping the gun. We shall see.

Turns out he was waaaay jumping the gun. Forecast now for a low of 50, showers. I wish he wouldn't do that. He had all the gardeners flipping out trying to pick all their green tomatoes and unripe melons yesterday.

Well that cold front that just passed gave us our first taste of cool crisp fall weather. After the summer we just had, I wouldn't mind a little snow. Gotta fix my mountain bike, though.

Fall is beautiful up here. We peak about the third week in October. After that let it snow.
