So for us weather dummies what does all that mean???

It means, Deb321, that that wave is expected by all of the global models to make it to the Bahamas and Florida in 4-6 days. Not to be alarmist, but it has a good circulation, convection is starting to fire up around it, and it has 4-6 days of fairly warm water and good conditions before it reaches the US. What it will be by then is anyone's guess, and whether it enters the Gulf is too, though if it does, cold fronts at this time of year might not let it get very far into the Gulf. Just pay attention to it and be prepared.

Thanks vaffie, hope it doesn't come to Florida but I will be keeping my eye on it. Last thing I need is a hurricane breathing down my neck right now , my hubby is working out of town and won't be here to help prepare. Oh well, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

There is no basis for this accusation.

"Want" is the wrong word. He is most likley concerned about it for south
florida. After the pummeling Florida took last year, there is nothing
wrong with being concerned about the possibility for a system.

thing is comes to Tampa...unless it is a weak depression that gives
central florida some much needed rain (it has been very dry here

Too funny. Do you really want a hurricane that bad? No electricity for a couple of weeks, store shelves bare, rotten food in the freezer, and the list goes on. I wouldn't wish a hurricane on my worst enemy. Pray a storm does not come anywhere near you.

My thoughts exactly. Take one look at these poor folks in the southern part of my parish (Terrebonne) who took a 9 ft surge from Rita. And lost everything they owned. After that, you will pray that ever storm just never hits land. Some of my family has lost their homes from Katrina. The elderly lady that my aunt takes care of also lost her home from Katrina. She came on my Destin, Fl trip this summer and was the sweetest lady you ever would meet. Sorry, if I am totally going off the subject of this thread, but as much as I love tracking the tropics, I would never, ever want to see a storm hit land again.

OMG! You guys are putting words in Christy's mouth. She never explicitly said that she "wanted" a storm to come to Florida. No offense to you others, but whenever someone from Louisiana or Texas speculates if a storm will hit them, no one criticizes them. Why does this happen to people from Florida? Not that I like Florida or anything (NY rules IMO!), but I believe in equality for all STK posters.
