Thanks Heather, that really is excellent advice for everyone in the Keys.
I could do what I did for Rita, a hotel in Broward that allows dogs to stay in the room, but that's a little too close to the more likely path I think.
I took the dog to the vet this afternoon and got all his shots updated so if I have to put him in a kennel somewhere they'll take him. The vet in Key Largo is on pretty high ground, but I couldn't evacuate without him (the dog, not the vet).
One thing for south Florida, a storm coming from the backside has most of its winds over land rather than water before they reach the coast, so there has to be some attenuation of the max wind. Course, the Everglades aren't much land, but it's something.
