You can't have degrees Kelvin. Kelvin is a ratio number which is not expresed in degrees.

It isn't 522 degrees Kelvin, but 522 Kelvin.

The whole show smells funny, IMO.

I tried to get into it, and it lost me. It moves WAY too slow and I can't place it, but something isn't right with it.

It's very poorly written. They were trying to reinvent the wheel and create another "Lost," but fell way short.

I know... I've been saying all year that with all of the public interest in hurricanes, one of those idiots is going to get killed -- thank God I've been wrong so far...but its is only a matter of time. :(

The silliest question I heard was from a CNN anchor asking the Cuba correspondent Lucia Newman where the Cuban government was going to fly the evacuees. She sounded taken aback, and replied that Cuba is an island, and they were busing them out.

I hear CBS is cooking up a movie named "Category 7"

Logic surrenders.

Does anyone know if NHC is considering adding a Category 6 because that is what the weatherman was implying.

I think the real problem is America wants its news delievered by pretty people instead of knowledgeable people. I love that locally they have the weather school question every day and about 70% of the time the anchors get it wrong. It is mostly simple grade school stuff. They can't do more than read a teleprompter.

Pretty people versus knowledgeable people. That is the problem. Not only the anchors, also their bosses deserve all the criticism. We are talking about a problem that seems contagious: anchors asking stupids questions or doing stupids comments, and lets be fair, the producers are guilty too.

I saw a CNN anchor woman asking the reporter in Cuba if the government had a weather agency like the NHC, because she thought that cubans were taken by surprise. The reporter, very diplomatic, answered that the people and tourist were aware of Wilma, and that Cuba has its own weather service but also keep in touch with the NHC.

Honestly I felt professionally betrayed when I heard that woman. As an anchor you have to learn and read about everything. In my case, I read a lot about weather and hurricanes and now I'm enrolled in an online course with the American Meteorological Society -- just as a hobby.

When I read posts like this I'm just so embarrassed for our country and the ignorance we so often project, particularly with regard to what goes on in other countries. I've been saddended to see how our news broadcasts have deteriorated from the days of Walter Cronkite, when ratings didn't drive what we talked about each evening and we weren't afraid of offending whatever multinational corporation owned the network.
