Awww Bill, if I could have, I would have dropped off a plate. Here's some cyber turkey and dressing......sorry your holiday disappointed.
Well, you know how things come in three's? Bad luck I mean? Well, the day before Thankgiving, my car battery just about died. My Civic had been starting reluctantly for days, so since very cold wx was on tap AND my oldest college freshman daughter due home to drive it, I pulled into CarX. After picking up rolls and pies for the dinner. Sure enough, it was barely putting out whatever they're called - 60 out of 480. They rotated my tires too (now I'm set if it snows a lot!), back in the car 40 minutes (thought that was very good considering it was the day before a holiday), 2 more errands and I was back home. Laura asked - where were you? LOL Oh, you know pies, donuts, rolls, car battery, milk, etc. he he Then I go to use our downstairs bathroom, handle breaks. Oh lovely, company is coming in a day. So off the lid comes, you could manually flush that way. Would my kids do that? Oh no, that's gross Mom......so I had flush duty. My glasses broke next, just simple reading glasses.....Nina came home - it was so neat to finally see her. Our dog went literally nuts, couldn't get enough of her! She uh, dumped 2 huge lawn sized garbage bags of dirty laundry near the washer. Hey Mom, would you mind.....sure, we had clothes drip drying all over this house! Since over 75% gets drip dried, it was like that commerical, with clothes drying all over the home. I had to quick do it before company.....come 10 p.m., hubby ~looks~ at the commode. Yup, broken, we need a new handle. Of course Lowe's and Home Depot - closed! I had been washing china, crystal, setting the table, cleaning, I had no time to keep reminding him to fix it. So off to Bigg's of all places I went. It was after 11 when I was standing in their 'plumbing' section. But sure enough they had one! It was repaired by midnight.
No disasters on the holiday.
But today I dropped the coffee caraffe, it's broken and in the garbage now. And oh yeah, I did soak the very nice wooden fish we have, a xmas gift from years ago, that we had sardines in (don't ask, a family tradition my hubby says, ugh) and of course, I had forgotten it had water in it. It's now cracked and warped in places.
I think I should just sit in a chair and read the paper. I was going to tackle the xmas lights and decorations. With my luck lately, which is numbering 5 right now, I'll break something!
Happy Black Friday everyone! I'm not shopping, staying put and loving it. Happy shopping to those that are braving the crowds and traffic and happy decorating to those that are tackling that (and now we'll get a slew of posts from friends who already have decorated!).
