I already did all that homework you metion above with direct communication with the hurricane center years ago.
Sure you did. We believe you. That's why the HRD has an article talking about how foolish the idea is and why you can't get your math right.
So tell me...what sort of transport vessel did you propose to use to transport a 200'x50'x700' tube to the NHC? And what pray-tell did they say?
And what was their response to the 8 day track question?
And a tube that size would take forever to transport out there, as few ships could fit something of those dimensions. And then installation time for 1 tube, and then repeat this how many times? 1056 I believe was your number? Yep, that's right. (I checked my math.)
Just curious, if we were able to start construction on this right now, without worrying about monetary costs, and all the physics and math worked, would you expect this to be done before the end of the century? I doubt it would . . .

THIS IS IMPORTANT.
Sorry, time didn't allow me to see that before I pointed out more flaws in this plan. However, we are allowing him to try and defend his idea, and if anything I would consider him a potential developer of this solution, and we are just trying to work the kinks out. I don't think he's a troll.

How do they secure oil wells in the Gulf?[/quote]
Uhh...wouldn't the more appropriate question be how do you secure an oil well in the middle of the Gulf Stream? After all...there's not a 4 knot current in the Gulf.
And...having dated a girl who's father's company built Offshore rigs...the bases aren't 200+ in diameter and you don't place them in a 4 knot current without millions of pounds of anchor (including the rig). That's gonna be a little more than 10 Billion for 1500 tubes...or is it 1000...or is it 1064...or is it...wait...which number did you give the NHC? Anyway...it's more than 10 Billion.

That idea is different than mine someone wants to pump it up. They did tell me that forcasting is getting better and soon they will have ten day out forecasts, and they did tell me that my idea would work especially for a storm like Andrew. But the idea could protect any land mass where a strong current exists near the coast.

Did they tell you when these ten-days would start? Because most of the work on your design here would need to be done after those begin and are somewhat accurate.

Hey any idea that would give me a few feet of snow a month from November into March sounds pretty Exotic!

OK... sorry! I meant a remote idea.
Sorry for spoiling the party badly...

Gee...they told you forecasting was getting better? Wow. Didn't know that. Who did you speak to? I have contacts within NOAA and the NHC...I will call and verify your contact with them.
So...give me the name of the individual you spoke to so I can speak to them myself and verify what they told you.

If Orville had your math and engineering skills he would have died in the crash.

I don't think any of us are ignoring any of those three, though I'm not sure where Orville comes in to the equation here.

I've decided to re-enter the debate without ignoring.
Your idea is well-meant; however, you have not answered to counter the problems of huge cost, effecient management of the pipes, and the potentially bad effects on marine ecosystems and possible backfires of your system if it gets running.
