Down the Road- Any more Arctic Cold

#1 Postby cctxhurricanewatcher » Thu Dec 08, 2005 12:05 am

I am still learning how to read the different models along with their reliabilty and consistency. I noticed the GFS this evening looks like it wants to give us another shot of cold before Christmas if I am reading that right.

Any of you see the same things?

The models are consistent in showing another arctic outbreak before Christmas... they just can't figure when. Could be early next week, could be 3 days before Christmas at this point.

Could we be looking at another white Christmas in TX and the Deep South?

I wouldn't go that far yet... my experience is very cold=dry, but I hope we can break that spell.

I don't consider this current front a big arctic front at all. Our lows probably won't even make it into the 20's. We usually get a few big fronts during the winter that send us down into the low - mid 20's and every couple of years the teens. Our best shot of snow historically is in February but the past 10 years of so winter has pretty much come to an end after January around here. Here's hoping for another Christmas storm but better, we only got a trace of sleet/snow around here.

Note that little pocket of warm weather (comparatively speaking) right where we are--that prevents us getting some snow.
