Mike Seidel was broadcasting from Green Bay all day today... I actually got to meet him at his broadcast location.... he's a character to say the least!

wear those thermals to bed! Single digit temps - whoah! I'm whining and
carrying-on about mid-teen lows here, tonight!
I got feisty and rearranged my bedroom, today. I got tired of the head
of my bed being just under the west-facing window - in the warm months,
I hear the wind and rain pelting it, right over my head. Last night, I heard
the sleet pelting the same window, right over my head. I've often laid in
bed and wondered...hmmmm....if something comes through that window,
it's landing on my head! LOL, call me paranoid - I moved the bed away from
the window, and, spent a couple of hours dragging the heavy chest-of-drawers
to the other side of the room, inch-by-inch. I got it done, finally! The bedroom
actually looks bigger, now, and, I feel more safe!
I'm leaving some hot chocolate and s'mores for anyone who drops by.
Have a safe and warm night, wxbuddies!

Miss Mary wrote:Hey all - yes we had a great time Eric. Let me first say, I don't ski! Should have I guess, since I love snow and winter. But ya know I'm an old geezer now, I joke I'm saying our family money - lift ticket/ski rental and hospital bills! LOL
The day started off with a real surprise - an inch of snowfall and it was still coming down. What was supposed to be just flurries turned into more. Temps were frigid so it stuck and the roads were very slick. Being a Saturday, road crews didn't rush out to salt. So here we were bravely heading out in those conditions. I'm sure my Northern or New England buds would laugh - an inch of snowfall? But our city is full of hills, no matter where you go, you have to prethink your route. Cincy isn't flat like it is for Chicago, for one example. We saw many accidents. Jeremy will likely know about Kentucky - interstates alerts said I 75 Southbound was closed, to reroute if going that way. Since we were going north by about 2 hours, we were in the clear. Within 30 minutes, no snow. Freaky!
It was one long day though - an 18 hour day if you factor in travel time. Worth it, yes. But exhausting just the same. I have no sympathy from Laura, who was braving the slopes in below 0 wind chills and real temps around 12.
Finally, we keep saying - why do these mini-storms come on weekend days? If it had been a school day I know for a fact schools would have closed.
I was sad to learn about the tour bus crash in Oklahoma. And here in Kentucky, a motor home lost control, hit a parked car and flipped. Driver killed, his wife hospitalized. That was over by Jeremy.

We FINALLY got a decent snow at Big Bear this past weekend and we went up early on Saturday to let the kids snowboard. It was so beautiful, with fresh snow falling from the sky the entire day. We spent many hours on our property, basking in the beauty of it covered in snow...still trying to settle on a final house plan, so we can get busy building and start really enjoying life in Big Bear. The kids boarded into the night...Snow Summit has lights for night skiing...and the drive down the mountain was tedious, but we made it with no mishap, unlike many others we saw wrecked and slid off the road.
We started in a group at church last night called "Suppers for 8". Has anyone ever participated in this before with their church? We got linked up with some neat people and hope to experience great fellowship with these new folks.
Enjoy your day off today, if you're off for Presidents day. God Bless...Shannon
