SITUATION
At 1800UTC developing tropical low located within 20 nautical miles of
Latitude fifteen decimal one degrees South [15.1S]
Longitude one hundred and twenty four decimal seven degrees East [124.7E]
Recent movement : West at 4 knots.
Maximum winds : 30 knots.
Central pressure : 996hPa.

[b]The low is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 6 hours.

Within 60 nautical miles of the centre.

Sustained winds near the centre increasing to 35 knots by 2200UTC 26 March and
60 knots by 1800UTC 27 March.
Within 25 nautical miles of centre winds above 48 knots by 0900UTC 27 March with
high seas and moderate increasing swell.
Within 60 nautical miles of centre winds above 35 knots by 2200UTC 26 March with
very rough seas and moderate increasing swell.

IN A FW HOURS WE WOULD KNOW WHICH SYSTEM BECOMES GLENDA AND WHICH BECOMES HUBERT. I WOULD SAY THAT THE SYSTEM CLOSE TO AUSTRALIA WILL BECOME GLENDA AND THE SYSTEM NEXT THE COCOS ISLANDS WILL BECOME HUBERT. NEVERTHELESS, LET SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

Issued at 5:55 am WST on Monday, 27 March 2006
BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is current for a developing tropical low for coastal and
island areas between Mitchell Plateau and Coulomb Point, not including Derby.

A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to Bidyadanga, including Broome and Derby.

At 5am WST a tropical low was estimated to be
140 kilometres west southwest of Mitchell Plateau
260 kilometres north northeast of Derby and
400 kilometres northeast of Broome
and was moving west at 8 kilometres per hour.

The low is expected to move further away from the coast and deepen into a
tropical cyclone this morning.
Gales with gusts to 100 kilometres per hour are
expected to develop on the coast between Mitchell Plateau and Coulomb Point
during this morning. If the system takes a more southwesterly track, then gales
may extend south to Derby and Broome on Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque.

Widespread heavy rain is expected though the western Kimberley today. Refer to
current flood warnings for more information.

Details of the tropical low at 5am WST Monday.

Latitude 15.1 South Longitude 124.5 East.
Recent movement : West at 8 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 995 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 80 kilometres per hour.

Arm Point and Cape Leveque should commence taking precautions.

A CYCLONE WARNING is current for a CATEGORY 2 CYCLONE for coastal and island
areas between Mitchell Plateau and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to
Whim Creek.

At 2pm WST TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
145 kilometres north northeast of Cape Leveque and
235 kilometres north of Derby
and was moving west at 14 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 150 kilometres per hour may develop in coastal parts between
Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque later today, extending south to Bidyadanga
early Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque.

Widespread heavy rain is expected through the western Kimberley today. Refer to
current flood warnings for more information.

NORTH-NORTHWEST OF YAMPI SOUND, AUSTRALIA, HAS TRACKED WEST-
SOUTHWESTWARD AT 08 KNOTS OVER THE PAST 06 HOURS. ENHANCED MULTI-
SPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES THE SYSTEM IS BECOMING BETTER
ORGANIZED AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE FURTHER AWAY FROM LAND. UPPER
LEVEL ANALYSIS INDICATES GOOD EQUATORWARD OUTFLOW AND LOW VERTICAL
WIND SHEAR. MAXIMUM SIGNIFICANT WAVE HEIGHT AT 270600Z IS 12 FEET.

TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVICE NUMBER 22

BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is current for a CATEGORY 2 CYCLONE for coastal and island
areas between Mitchell Plateau and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to
Whim Creek.

At 5pm WST TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
125 kilometres north northeast of Cape Leveque and
225 kilometres north northwest of Derby
and was moving west southwest at 13 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour may develop in coastal parts between
Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque tonight, extending south to Bidyadanga during
Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected through the Kimberley with heavy falls
possible in western coastal parts. Refer to current flood warnings for more
information.

Recent movement : West southwest at 13 kilometres per hour.

BLUE ALERT: People in or near the communities of Mitchell Plateau, Kuri Bay, One
Arm Point, Beagle Bay, Lombadina, Djarindjin and Broome should commence taking
precautions.

areas between Kuri Bay and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to Whim
Creek.
The CYCLONE WARNING between Mitchell Plateau and Kuri Bay has been cancelled.

At 8pm WST SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
110 kilometres north of Cape Leveque and
220 kilometres north northwest of Derby
and was moving west southwest at 10 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour may develop in coastal parts between
Kuri Bay and Cape Leveque overnight, possibly extending south to Bidyadanga
during Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Kuri Bay and Cape Leveque.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected through the Kimberley with heavy falls

At 1200UTC Severe Tropical Cyclone Glenda located within 20 nautical miles of
Latitude fifteen decimal four degrees South [15.4S]
Longitude one hundred and twenty three decimal zero degrees East [123.0E]
Recent movement : West southwest at 5 knots.
Maximum winds : 65 knots.
Central pressure : 970hPa.


AREA AFFECTED
Within 50 nautical miles of the centre, extending to within 80 nautical miles of
the centre by 1200UTC 28 March.


FORECAST
Sustained winds near the centre to 65 knots, increasing to 90 knots by 1200UTC
28 March.
Within 20 nautical miles of centre increasing to within 25nm of centre by
0600UTC 28 March, clockwise winds above 48 knots, high seas and moderate
increasing swell.
Within 50 nautical miles of centre, extending to within 80 nautical miles of the
