This is from Jeff, a pro met here in Houston:

“Quasi tropical” low located about 50 miles SSW of Port O Conner, TX based from 850mb up to 250mb is supplying copious moisture into the region. Surface pressures have fallen slightly this morning and winds along the middle and lower TX coast suggest a weak low has formed near at the surface. This feature is moving little if at all but is expected to progress very slowly toward the NW to WNW over the next 48 hours.

Extended:

The low along with the deepest tropical moisture should begin to shift westward into S and C TX by Friday with a gradual reduction in rain chances going into the weekend.

Slightly Off topic, The Bayou just 2 blocks away from home was filling up. The rain let up slightly but radar indicates more heavy rain pushing in from the GOM.

You think??? In a couple hours??? Dunno about that. The radar does show a slight northward drift, but it's very slow.

There could be some low west winds in another small portion around the possible low center or elsewhere.

By the way, even if the current LLC may be over land, in situations like this, the original center can easily dissipate and a new center may form.

If there is a LLC or surface low it's probably very close to coast or just inland already.

Could this be an "unnamed (sub)tropical storm"?

Good little blowup over water with the redevelopment of thunderstorms. Looks like SE Texas could be in for some massive rain later today (not like you need any more this week).

I'm seeing it now. A very weak broad surface low just off or around of Corpus Christe Bay.

Here's radar.:
