Useless Shows On TV

#1 Postby Janice » Fri Jun 23, 2006 7:22 pm

What is one time slot or show on tv that you think is really bad or useless?

One that could be removed and something better put in that slot.

Me... Paula Zahn. All her shows are usually just repeats of old news already on. I would like something different. She has a dry personality too. Just my opinion.

American Idol.

Replace it with reruns of Mr. Ed.

I was going to suggest that too, but there are so many American Idol fans here, I was afraid i'd be lynched.

All reality shows on MTV, although I got a laugh when I was watching a clip of MTV's "Next" on E!'s "The Soup" about a lady that slipped and fell on the stairs of the bus.

Infomercials have got to go! And I can't believe there are networks full of them.

The Friday primetime slot on NBC might as well be reruns of classic oldies, because that's a graveyard slot for any NBC show. And let's face it, if they've already been cancelled (because they're oldies), what would they have to lose?

I don't hate all reality shows, but the ones that are bad copies of the good ones need to go!

Yikes! 2 of the 3 shows I watch regularly are on FOX and I love them - 24 and House. I gotta have my FOX for those two. My other regular show is LOST on ABC. Throw in some sports and news and a few sitcoms here and there and I'm set. I don't watch that much TV - nothing like most people I know.

Useless shows would be most reality shows - geez, enough already...and infomercials. Show sitcoms instead!

What I've noticed here is over night many the channels seem to change to quiz channels. People phone up and it costs them between 60p and £1 for really obscure puzzles that don't make sense. Problem is people must be calling in as there are so many of them.

Oh and yes in general I hate reality programmes, soaps, Friends, drama. (Yes I mainly watch sport , comedy and documentaries).

Another useless program is a talking show about football. It consists of 4 men, talking 30 minutes about one match. They discuss things like 'what would have happenend if that player scored' or 'what would have happenend if that player didn't play in the match' Really useless...

We have a similar program in the US on the ESPNews Channel called "4 Quarters". At least it's not on basic cable. (WHEW)

Fear Factor needs to go. I never watch it, it just bothers me that it's there because it's so awful. Also, I've seen interviews with the host and would love to see him out of a job. Also, anything on ABC featuring John Stossel. He's THE worst reported I've ever seen and why he has a job is amazing to me.

Wasn't there a movie, or a book... something like: "Reality Bites?"

They had it right!.... Can't stand any of 'em.

Can't really say that there is anything on tv I don't like just have to be in the mood to watch it. If I'm not in the mood to be entertained I just turn it off. Most of the time sports on the screen here......Most of the shows I really like to watch are on FOX

What kills me is the re-runs... It seems like a station will have only about a dozen or so episodes of a series. Example, say, M*A*S*H - it's always one of a repeating group although the show ran for what - eleven seasons?

What I can do without is movies on "regular" TV - both the "standard" framing to "fit TV" and having been edited for time and content. Many films just look terrible, plus they are edited to the point of idiocy. In some, whole scenes are gone. Finally, the commercials just pound you to pieces, with their own loud soundtracks and endless repetition.
