The problem EVERYONE is missing here is. The Leaders of Iran and Syria don't value life like we do and will Probably use Nukes or Chemical weapons if need be. Not to mention korea. I find it amazing how so many of you say" lets handle it" or "Lets go to war" I think if you all were the ones doing the fighting your tune may change. Sorry but don't we have enough to deal with

I was one that said we need to take out Iran and wanted to explain why I feel this way. Believe me I do not like war, but Iran does not have nukes yet and they are working on them. Like you said these people do not value life the way we do and the US would be target number 1 if they were to gain nuke capability. I would hope by taking out their nuke sites NOW instead of later when they have strike capability then we can prevent them from killing alot of innocent people later. I do not believe it would be a walk in the park, but it seems like a better idea than sitting on our hands while they work on weapons to seek our destruction. There are alot of people trying to work with Iran on this issue maybe diplomacy will eventually work, but we can not allow these people to develop nukes.

I know tensions run high on this topic, so I just wanted to add that this was in no way intended to be an arguement. From your post I just got the impression that you think some of us would just think this would be an easy task and are too quick to send our servicemen into harms way. So I wanted to explain that it's not the case it is just that I beleive a preemtive strike now could save millions later.

I see your point. But if they want Nukes they could get them elsewhere if they wanted too. My point is we will always find a fight if we look for it.

I don't doubt that Syria has chemical weapons capacity on the scale desribed in this article. But against a prepared military and populace like Israel's, chemical weapons really aren't that effective. Saying that this capacity balances Israel's nuclear capacity is way off base, IMHO.

I've long objected to the somewhat oversimplified term "WMD" encompassing everything from thermonuclear weapons to mustard gas. To my mind, there should be a distinction between major WMDs like nuclear weapons and infectious biological weapons vs minor WMDs like chemical weapons and dirty bombs.

Not trivializing the latter, just trying to add some perspective.

In the french/Indian War, Britian and France did not resolve everything, so they fought again in the American Revolution (you could say those wars were WW1 and WW2)

WW1 did not settle anything, so WW2 was fought

If this does explode, we MUST fully take care of Korea and Iran, so we don't have to fight Iran for a second time like we had to fight Iraq twice, or Korea for a third time

One could make a better case for this claim, but actually I'd argue that the cause of WW2 was an all-too harsh settlement of WW1. In particular, the French insistence on punitive measures including ceding of the Rhineland industrial area (prompted by their lasting resentment over the Franco-Prussian war) led to the economic and political chaos which fostered both the Communist and National Socialist movements in Germany.

Sad. Clearly Isreal should have held off on the heavy bombing and left the airport alone so those who wanted to leave could leave. Now Canadians are dead and probably citizens from other countries will die as well
