What I originally came to this thread for was to bring up the point that they are not using dropsondes on this mission, which is something else they did with Alberto. Is it some sort of policy not to use dropsondes on weak storms? Do they actually have a limitation on the number they can use? Basically, why not use them when they will provide actual surface readings?
