Re: Quiet Season....So Far....?
This is normal for this time of year. The Problem is the previous two years were the exception, not the rule. Now it seems like those two years are being thought of as the norm. They were not.Yankeegirl wrote:This season has been quiet so far... Any thoughts on if its going to stay this way? I am almost bored with this season!

No offense to Yankeegirl at all... I knew this would be one of those why is this season slow, with all the angry replies and complaining associated.
I remember a time when I was growing up in the 80's and Early 90's when, you would be lucky to have a few storms to track. Times were very slow then.. I wonder what's going to happen when we revert back to a below normal cycle in the Atlantic.
So far as I see it we are right at Normal or slightly above.

I was talking about the pattern. Thanks for the correction.cheezywxman wrote:Rainband wrote:This is normal for this time of year. actually we are slightly above normal for this time of the year. 2 named storms and it is only July 21st. Remember 2004? we didn't have a storm until July 31st; and 1992...no storm until late August. So far, this season seems to be at or above normal.
Also, another thing to think about is so far we have seen 2 storms - 2 landfalls. This tells me that we could see another big landfall year.

Where were we this time last year?
Hey buck how are ya? I don't think I've seen you around a lot but, I could be wrong. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on storms last year.
Thanks! I enjoy your posts as well! I haven't posted a whole lot this year, but I'm still here.

Here is something to ponder...
Over the past 155 years, we should have 1.05 named storms by today. (2006 is ahead of that average by 0.95)
Over the past 30 years, we should have 1.33 named storms by today. (2006 is ahead of that average by 0.67)
Since the dramatic increase of storms in 1995, we should have 2.00 named storms by today. (2006 is exactly on par with this average)
