Well I can't find a pattern with El Nino winters, the last two were a far cry from each other

1997-1998, snowed once
2002-2003, one of the snowiest on record.

In 2002-03 the subtropical and polar jets phased well. The enhanced subtropical jet during weak-mdt El Nino winters often enhances noreasters when the two branches of the jet stream phase. OTOH, strong Nino's like 94-95 and especially 97-98 keep the pattern progressive and phasing becomes difficult, and even often the storm passes quickly w/o much snow.

well...I'm hoping to aviod that...plus the fact my school went to some stupid "if you miss more than ten days of school you fail regardless of excused/unexcused or passing/failing your classes..." so a trip to the docters needs to be avioded at almost all costs...however about a foot of snow would cheer me up

My son'd school is the same way. I think it is wrong. then others get sick.




Now back to what we are talking about here. We have only a few that really love to track storms on here. You only have alot when there is a US hit going to happen. If they were really storm wachers and wanted to learn they would be here. I check in a few times a day between cleaning the home taking a break. I enjoy reading posts here. And really trying to learn. I will be 51 in Nov and a grandmother of 3. But I stick with it. I love it here on storm 2k.

In my view,it looks like after that special advisory from CPC came out on the 13th about El nino developing,it turned off many members.That combined with a quiet Atlantic in terms of systems getting close to land areas has contribute to the gathering of members brownsing Talking Tropics forum to be below normal for September.

Things are much better this year, so I guess quiet is good! I thought the Daily Show did a good job of summing up the reliability of early hurricane predictions last night! I'm certainly glad it didn't turn out as bad as they said 2006 was going to be.

I think this year has been the most frustrating, not because of it being slow, but because the systems couldn't could make their minds up on what they wanted to do, and often didn't do what they were expected to do....

I did call for an early end to the season, so we'll see if I'm right, so far so good ...

As I stated earlier though, we will NOT have two slow seasons in a row like this, or I should say, we will NOT have 2 seasons in a row where the USA gets so lucky.....I can't believe how lucky we've been this year. It boggles my mind, but I guess we are bound to get lucky every 10 years or so, and this was one of those fluke LUCKY years...Next year I'm sure it will be back to normal.

I wouldn't say it is extremely slim,in October activity does die down but it's usually not a totally dead month.Considering waves are still rolling off Africa and the slight chance of a home-grown type system near the Gulf/NW Carib I don't see why we won't see 2 maybe 3 more more storms,though they'll probably be fishes.

Along with a bunch more Floridians getting out. Did you check out SC ? The taxes are much less and you can get a new brick 4/2 on a half acre for about 150,000 to 175,000.

you could be right, but I guess I'm just extremely skeptical because of the way the season has been, and usually when conditions look like they do now, it usually means an early end to the season....
I guess it's possible that there may be a couple of weak storms developing in October though.
