I just did a double take with the last fading light to make sure I did not hallucinate.
Yep these are fast moving tropical scuds. Perhaps I am over-reacting but after yesterdays deluge I am surprise the atmosphere can turn around so quick again.

Wow...F1 or F2! This is the area I was talking about just west of Beaumont. I posted some pictures in this thread yesterday.

Powerful storms rolled through the southeast Texas community of China Monday, damaging some homes and flattening others. Roger Erickson of the National Weather Service thinks it was an F1 or F2 tornado that caused the damage. Erickson says that meteorologists determine whether storm damage is caused by straight-line winds or a tornado in part by looking at the debris fields. If the debris fields show a radial pattern, then the damage was probably caused by a tornado; if the debris fields are in the same direction, then straight-line winds are probably the culprit. In any case, Monday`s storms were a traumatic experience for people in China.

I'm most concerned about wind gusts. The city came out today and removed one tree that blew over from the storms we just had. The ground is saturated and we have many trees, some of which are quite old and rotting and really need to be removed (but on our terms).
Falling trees and those floating balls of fire ants scare the heck out of me.

As Pine Island Bayou continues to rise and the creek by my house is about to go over the street, it's pouring down rain again. Unreal.
In Newton County, the water is rising so much that there are homes with water up to their roof tops. They have been evacuating people.

Sheriff Joe Walker has been working for hours, helping evacuate residents from their homes.
KFDM News rode along with walker to help Daigle retrieve some personal items.
In some areas, the water is about 20 feet deep.
The water from Cow Creek left huge logs, propane tanks and dozens of vehicles including this Ford Mustang submerged in the water.
Walker says evacuating this community was harder than he anticipated.

I saw them too, pretty crazy.
Also - anyone else notice that spectacular sunset last night? It was really something in The Woodlands.
