North Texas Weather - A Brief Break from the Rain?

This morning started out as a cloudy day in the North Texas area with temps in the 50s. Then at 8:00AM CDT, the fog started to form, reducing visinilities to 2.5 miles. There were some pocket areas of light rain and drizzle as well. At around lunchtime, visibilities dropped dramatically to .15ths of a mile, however, the current visibility at this hour is 1/2 a mile. Still a little dangerous to be driving though. Temperatures fell to the upper 40s by Midday, but eventually remained steady throughout the day. Right now, we got an area of light to moderate rain along and west of a line from Paris to DFW to south of Brownwood, all moving to the Northeast. Heavier rain and thundertorms are predicted for North Texas this evening through Wednesday afternoon, however no flooding is expected.

The rain continues across North Texas as a cold front passes through the area, bringing cooler temperatures andwindy conditions this afternoon. A line of thunderstorms was detected along a line from between Gainesville and Sherman, East of Fort Worth, and Meridian.

Well, the rainy event wasn't as all cracked up to be, but we managed to get over a half an inch on Tuesday and Wednesday. We're still almost 7 in. below normal, but it's much better than last year where we're over 15 in. behind. On this Last-minute Christmas shopping weekend, we're gonna see increasing clouds on Saturday and a chance of rain that night and Christmas Eve, which wil taper off by Christmas Day. Highs will be in the 50s to lower 60s and lows in the 30s. Any wintry precip that was forecasted to fall on Christmas Eve has gone by the wayside, which is good news for travelers here, yet bad news for us Texans, because we wanted to see a snow white Christmas. Oh well, there's always next year I suppose.

Well, the forecast has once again changed in DFW. It seems we may have a 20% chance of a White Christmas after all. Some of us will see some snow flurries by the time Santa Claus makes his way to this area. Of course the snow won't last long as skies gradually become Partly Cloudy by 10:00AM CST. Of course, it's also gonna be windy by afternoon; otherwise, all is calm and all is bright by that evening.

Once again, snow is taken back out of the DFW forecast...I take it back, it's back in the forecast...it's taken back out...back in--MAKE UP YOUR MIND NWS!!!! Either way, we may not get some winter weather tonight. All the precip (if any) will be moving out of North Texas and skies will become Partly Cloudy by Christmas Day, however we'll have wind gusts up to 35 MPH that day, so if you have a light weight gift and you're gonna try it out, do so at your own risk. As for the rest of the week, we'll see Mostly Clear to Mostly Cloudy skies from Christmas Night to Wednesday with highs in the 50s-60s and lows in the 30s and 40s. On Wednesday Night to Friday, we'll see another chance of rain and thunderstorms with highs in the 60s and lows in the 50s. And from Friday Night on to New Year's Eve, we'll see Mostly Clear to Partly Cloudy skies with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s.
