I know Keith Blackwell...he was a PhD student at A&M when I was there doing my undergrad. He was a major and in charge of the Air Force basic met students as well. He did a lot of tropical modeling back then and actually developed a model to determine estimated wind speeds on land at landfall. This was back in the late 80's...way ahead of his time. He's a sharp dude.
