I know Keith Blackwell...he was a PhD student at A&M when I was there doing my undergrad. He was a major and in charge of the Air Force basic met students as well. He did a lot of tropical modeling back then and actually developed a model to determine estimated wind speeds on land at landfall. This was back in the late 80's...way ahead of his time. He's a sharp dude.

Here is Keith's Bio... http://www.southalabama.edu/cwrc/stfkeith.html
And if you scroll down...you can watch his testimony before the Senate on Katrina. It starts at about 53:50 into the 2+ hour presentation.
He is a hurricane freak (watch the video and you will know what I am talking about).

I mean no disrespect to any meteorologist when I say this but I would stack Dr. Bill Williams, Dr. Keith Blackwell, and Pete McCarty of Coastal Weather Research Center up against any met. outfit. CWRC provides a great service to communities and industries by providing expert weather analysis that you can take to the bank.
