We've already gone through seven names this Atlantic hurricane season, and an eighth, Ingrid, is likely brewing over the central part of the basin. The system is currently identified as a tropical depression, with harmless 35-mph winds. Right now, T.D. 8 is battling northeasterly wind shear and dry air to its west, but any additional strengthening will bring it to tropical storm status. It looks like the system will have a slow go of it through the next few days, but we'll be watching it the whole way.

KWT wrote:Yeah you really can't miss the LLC, also note the convection is becoming increasingly confined to a narrow line south fo the center, shear seems extremely high right now, could well be as high as the 40-50kts quoted earlier. Any dieing of that convection on the southern side and we'll have a naked swirl.
Yeah I'd say it is at least 45kts of shear to tear this apart like this so quickly. which most likely means the 2 day forecast of 45-50 kt shear will most likely end up being 0 shear

just kidding. but the way it's holding on, look out if it can get past this shear.

That's funny. Looks like Accuweather can't even get the basic math accurate.
Should you send an email and inform them of their error?

Hard to say Vortex, i hate these sheared systems as strong shear always seems to give ideas that the system is heading in a different way then what it actually is, however it does appear in the last hour its at elast jogged more to the NW.
convection still firing close to the LLC, as lnog as that continues tosome extent it has still got a chance and its probably waiting for a let-up in shear, but will it get that let-up?

Sensationalizing (is that a word?) - i.e. giving paying customers what they want - drama and excitement.

You can see the dry air on the WV loop. If TD8 can survive for about 48 hours the conditions may improve. BTW, convection still firing.

drama and excitement understandable as long as there is some truth to it

Well with all the debate of the merits, or lack of merits and skill over at AccuWeather, I think at least for me this will be a great test since they are so divergent from the NHC on this one. BTW, I sure hope NHC is correct.
