Umm . . . they already did. Immediately after that advisory saying that Karen had probably been a hurricane before that advisory, someone went back and altered the ATCF file to show two points (twelve hours) of hurricane status.

The 9/26 12z and 18z points reflect a 65kt/990mb hurricane. Of course, since it wasn't quite done in real-time there isn't any entry for the 64kt wind radii, but it's still a hurricane.
