Well I survived quite well. lol
Ill break the full review into three parts....one for each park and another for the HHN event.
Overall I was impressed. The lines were BY FAR the worst part. I would recommend anyone going to get an express pass for the regular parks, but and Express pass is a
MUST if you are going to HHN. We got there at about 10-10:30 and were in the park for 16hrs 30 mins, a record for myself.
Universal StudiosWe first walked in and got the regular express pass. Then we headed over to "Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast," which was as good as it was the first time. Something I did notice was that almost all of the rides were tweaked from the last time I was there (July 4th) Then we went to "Shrek 4-D" which was very good, the chairs rocked a lot more and it was windier that before. Then we went to twister, where a lot of the scenery was changed in advance of HHN. The show was the same except for a few of the buildings and the video behind it was Friday the 13th (we think.) Then we continued to "The "Mummy" which was better than normal, a little faster and more stuff to look at. Then we went to Earthquake, which had the largest tweaks-there was no foreshow, we just went into the train, which was mildy changed. Then we went to "Jaws" which was much better than last time. Jaws came up much more, and much higher than usual. There was more hot gas, more water, and more fire. And of course, as it has always done when we go on Jaws it was raining.

Then we went to "MIB Alien Attack," which I didnt think was as good this time, less spinning less speed. Then we went to finish Universal for the time being with "E.T." which wasnt much different.
The best ride in Universal this time was "The Mummy." It was better than last time and fit in with HHN pretty well. We hit every ride that we wanted to by 4:30-4:45p.
Islands of AdventureWe had less success here getting on rides because of the time crunch, but still only missed "Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls" and "Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges". The Barge was closed so that is the reason we couldn't go on it. We started off going through Seuss Landing without going on any of the kiddie rides. In The Lost Continent, where I had been expecting some closure of rides due to Harry Potter construction, there was no closures. First we went into "Poseidon's Fury," which I wish we had never gone on. Once you been through it once, it gets very old. Ill be skipping that ride for a while. Then we went to "The Dueling Dragons," which was my first time on this particular ride, and first time on a roller caster at Universal-IOA. We went on the Ice Dragon. I was freaking out in line, and going up the hill. After the first turn I was ok, I shut my eyes here and there, but I liked it. Then we went to the "Jurassic Park River Adventure," where as usual a hat was fed to the T-Rex. This time by one of the ladies in the boat with us. I love this ride. I hate going up, and this ride has a very steep, long up, but this ride has distractions to look at. I barely got wet on the big splash down. From here we would normally go to the Ripsaw Falls, but for times sake, we cut it, and the Barges, but they were down, so they were also cut. Then we went to "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man," which is one of my favorite rides. The spinning wasn't as fast, but the drops were faster. Then everyone but me went on the "Hulk." The Hulk was the only ride that I did not go on that everyone else did.
The best ride here was ironically Dueling Dragons. I was scared at first, but I really liked it.
From here we went to eat at the Nascar place. I barely ate anything, but my entertainment came in the bathroom. There was some guy in there "GAHHH, GOOORRR, GRRRR" grunting and groaning. I was trying to #2, but was laughing to hard. Then We went back to Universal for HHN
Halloween Horror NightsIm gonna say right now, this event was not up to Universal Standards. The lines were way to long, and the houses were too short and too funny.
This time we went backwards, expecting the lines to be shorter, but they weren't. The Scare Zones, which I only saw 2 of 4 walking around the whole park, were more funny than scary. We started at "
The Thing Assimilation" which was one of the better ones. The line kept on going and going. The house was in a tent in the back lots of Universal. I only saw the thing once, but other things were scaring me ever few seconds. I walked right into a dinosaur and jumped. Then some slobbery, gross man jumped out, eww. Watch out for falling houses, which starting here are reoccurring through most houses.
The next house was one of the best,
Jack's Funhouse in Clown-O-Vision. This has a line that is 2 hours long, and very loud line. Lots of College kids screaming college names. Lots of drunk people too. Don't let this detour you from this house. They give your drunk glasses for this one. You are supposed to be walking through Jacks brain. The glasses make all of the images on the walls, floors, the ceiling pop out into a strange not quite 3d image. The clowns makeup also pops out in 3D.5. There are plenty of people in here to be scared by including invisible people, which one of which I punched in the nostrils from behind a black wall of rubber. these walls of rubber are super annoying. These walls are a favorite of people trying to scare you and are reoccurring for most houses. Lots of corners and holes for clowns and others to pop through. There is one part that is horrible, which is a good thing, in the middle where it is all open with curtains and tubes and wires coming down with clowns hiding behind every curtain. This is the house where I started talking to the scaries. I kept saying "hi" or "boy you sure are beautiful today" or "you need to fix that" or scaring them back. lol if you talk to them they will not talk to you.

This was probably the best house that I went in.
We skipped the Jason and Leather face houses because of the 2-2.5 hour wait time. In front of the Leatherface house there were chainsaw men chasing you left and right with explosions out in the water and dead witches coming out of no where.
From there we went to the Freddy House
"A nightmare on Elm Street: Dreamwalkers." I got scared by Freddy once when he popped out of a cement-looking wall. Watch the mirrors and windows. That was the scariest part of the house. Freddy would pop out from the mirror. Here is where Jack makes a surprise entrance in the most mean way. Jack will literally pop out of the ceiling and half eat you head. Simultaneously when this happens and hand with very long nails ends up on your shoulder. I screamed and started running...oops...Freddy will chase you. This was the scariest part. My heart missed a beat. This one will make you go blind with all of the strobe lights. They do this to make it possible to scare you, and it works.
Then I went to "
Dead Silence: The curse of Mary Shaw" This house was ok, but not the best. There are a lot of ventriloquist dummies laying around and "dead" people sitting in chairs that I just talked to and they didn't scare me. I didn't even see Mary Shaw. This was probably the 3rd best house. More narrow hallways with seemingly 2-sided mirrors.
From here I went to "
Psychoscareapy: Home for the Holidays" When I first got to this one they had Christmas music playing. By the time we got to the door we were singing x-mas carols.

When we got inside the first thing you see is snow and the van of literally crazy people. then you go into a grave yard where hilarity ensues. The guy's shoe in the grave yard was untied and i told him while he was staring at me "Your shoes untied, you might wanna fix that" people 5 in front of me and in back of me were dying of laughter. The man got mad. then when we got in the house there are crazy people running around. Just inside the door there is a small person (3' or smaller) ran me and a few other people literally over. I went right on my ass, where crazy people started staring at me and they got closer and I got up and ran away in laughter. Watch out for the snowman, he just isn't right. lol This house was just plain funny. BTW watch out for Bad Santa ROFLMAO!!
Overall ratings-For what I went on-the first 5-the other three are based on people in the park and outside scenery
1. Jack's Funhouse in Clown-O-Vision, despite the longest line Ive ever been in.
2. A Nightmare on Elm Street
3. Dead Silence
4. The Thing Assimilation
5. Psychoscareapy-not for Halloween.
6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Flesh Wounds
7. Vampyr Blood Bath
8. Friday the 13th: Camp Blood- I got a lot of people telling me not to go on this one, and this would have to be last on outside scenery as well.
I did not go into any shows, but Bill and Teds sounded very good from the outside.
Tips for HHN: get at least an express pass or an RIP tour. take comfortable shoes. I took my shoes off, which helped a lot, but because of all the beer bottles and broken glass I put them back on until we got back outside the park. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN!!! Stay until 2am...they do not close the back of the lines until 2am and they do not close the entrance to the houses.
Tips overall: Get an express pass, and if going to HHN after the other two parks, get at the doors at 9am to cover everything.
If you want to finish more than I did, you may want both express passes (HHN and US/IOA) and maybe get a hotel and go to the one park one day and then go to the other park and HHN on the other. The money they charge for the express passes is worth it.
