Well I survived quite well. lol

Ill break the full review into three parts....one for each park and another for the HHN event.

Overall I was impressed. The lines were BY FAR the worst part. I would recommend anyone going to get an express pass for the regular parks, but and Express pass is a MUST if you are going to HHN. We got there at about 10-10:30 and were in the park for 16hrs 30 mins, a record for myself.

Universal Studios
We first walked in and got the regular express pass. Then we headed over to "Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast," which was as good as it was the first time. Something I did notice was that almost all of the rides were tweaked from the last time I was there (July 4th) Then we went to "Shrek 4-D" which was very good, the chairs rocked a lot more and it was windier that before. Then we went to twister, where a lot of the scenery was changed in advance of HHN. The show was the same except for a few of the buildings and the video behind it was Friday the 13th (we think.) Then we continued to "The "Mummy" which was better than normal, a little faster and more stuff to look at. Then we went to Earthquake, which had the largest tweaks-there was no foreshow, we just went into the train, which was mildy changed. Then we went to "Jaws" which was much better than last time. Jaws came up much more, and much higher than usual. There was more hot gas, more water, and more fire. And of course, as it has always done when we go on Jaws it was raining. :D Then we went to "MIB Alien Attack," which I didnt think was as good this time, less spinning less speed. Then we went to finish Universal for the time being with "E.T." which wasnt much different.

The best ride in Universal this time was "The Mummy." It was better than last time and fit in with HHN pretty well. We hit every ride that we wanted to by 4:30-4:45p.

Islands of Adventure
We had less success here getting on rides because of the time crunch, but still only missed "Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls" and "Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges". The Barge was closed so that is the reason we couldn't go on it. We started off going through Seuss Landing without going on any of the kiddie rides. In The Lost Continent, where I had been expecting some closure of rides due to Harry Potter construction, there was no closures. First we went into "Poseidon's Fury," which I wish we had never gone on. Once you been through it once, it gets very old. Ill be skipping that ride for a while. Then we went to "The Dueling Dragons," which was my first time on this particular ride, and first time on a roller caster at Universal-IOA. We went on the Ice Dragon. I was freaking out in line, and going up the hill. After the first turn I was ok, I shut my eyes here and there, but I liked it. Then we went to the "Jurassic Park River Adventure," where as usual a hat was fed to the T-Rex. This time by one of the ladies in the boat with us. I love this ride. I hate going up, and this ride has a very steep, long up, but this ride has distractions to look at. I barely got wet on the big splash down. From here we would normally go to the Ripsaw Falls, but for times sake, we cut it, and the Barges, but they were down, so they were also cut. Then we went to "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man," which is one of my favorite rides. The spinning wasn't as fast, but the drops were faster. Then everyone but me went on the "Hulk." The Hulk was the only ride that I did not go on that everyone else did.

The best ride here was ironically Dueling Dragons. I was scared at first, but I really liked it.

From here we went to eat at the Nascar place. I barely ate anything, but my entertainment came in the bathroom. There was some guy in there "GAHHH, GOOORRR, GRRRR" grunting and groaning. I was trying to #2, but was laughing to hard. Then We went back to Universal for HHN

Halloween Horror Nights
Im gonna say right now, this event was not up to Universal Standards. The lines were way to long, and the houses were too short and too funny.

This time we went backwards, expecting the lines to be shorter, but they weren't. The Scare Zones, which I only saw 2 of 4 walking around the whole park, were more funny than scary. We started at "The Thing Assimilation" which was one of the better ones. The line kept on going and going. The house was in a tent in the back lots of Universal. I only saw the thing once, but other things were scaring me ever few seconds. I walked right into a dinosaur and jumped. Then some slobbery, gross man jumped out, eww. Watch out for falling houses, which starting here are reoccurring through most houses.

The next house was one of the best, Jack's Funhouse in Clown-O-Vision. This has a line that is 2 hours long, and very loud line. Lots of College kids screaming college names. Lots of drunk people too. Don't let this detour you from this house. They give your drunk glasses for this one. You are supposed to be walking through Jacks brain. The glasses make all of the images on the walls, floors, the ceiling pop out into a strange not quite 3d image. The clowns makeup also pops out in 3D.5. There are plenty of people in here to be scared by including invisible people, which one of which I punched in the nostrils from behind a black wall of rubber. these walls of rubber are super annoying. These walls are a favorite of people trying to scare you and are reoccurring for most houses. Lots of corners and holes for clowns and others to pop through. There is one part that is horrible, which is a good thing, in the middle where it is all open with curtains and tubes and wires coming down with clowns hiding behind every curtain. This is the house where I started talking to the scaries. I kept saying "hi" or "boy you sure are beautiful today" or "you need to fix that" or scaring them back. lol if you talk to them they will not talk to you. :D This was probably the best house that I went in.

We skipped the Jason and Leather face houses because of the 2-2.5 hour wait time. In front of the Leatherface house there were chainsaw men chasing you left and right with explosions out in the water and dead witches coming out of no where.

From there we went to the Freddy House "A nightmare on Elm Street: Dreamwalkers." I got scared by Freddy once when he popped out of a cement-looking wall. Watch the mirrors and windows. That was the scariest part of the house. Freddy would pop out from the mirror. Here is where Jack makes a surprise entrance in the most mean way. Jack will literally pop out of the ceiling and half eat you head. Simultaneously when this happens and hand with very long nails ends up on your shoulder. I screamed and started running...oops...Freddy will chase you. This was the scariest part. My heart missed a beat. This one will make you go blind with all of the strobe lights. They do this to make it possible to scare you, and it works.

Then I went to "Dead Silence: The curse of Mary Shaw" This house was ok, but not the best. There are a lot of ventriloquist dummies laying around and "dead" people sitting in chairs that I just talked to and they didn't scare me. I didn't even see Mary Shaw. This was probably the 3rd best house. More narrow hallways with seemingly 2-sided mirrors.

From here I went to "Psychoscareapy: Home for the Holidays" When I first got to this one they had Christmas music playing. By the time we got to the door we were singing x-mas carols. When we got inside the first thing you see is snow and the van of literally crazy people. then you go into a grave yard where hilarity ensues. The guy's shoe in the grave yard was untied and i told him while he was staring at me "Your shoes untied, you might wanna fix that" people 5 in front of me and in back of me were dying of laughter. The man got mad. then when we got in the house there are crazy people running around. Just inside the door there is a small person (3' or smaller) ran me and a few other people literally over. I went right on my ass, where crazy people started staring at me and they got closer and I got up and ran away in laughter. Watch out for the snowman, he just isn't right. lol This house was just plain funny. BTW watch out for Bad Santa ROFLMAO!!

Overall ratings-For what I went on-the first 5-the other three are based on people in the park and outside scenery
1. Jack's Funhouse in Clown-O-Vision, despite the longest line Ive ever been in.
2. A Nightmare on Elm Street
3. Dead Silence
4. The Thing Assimilation
5. Psychoscareapy-not for Halloween.
6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Flesh Wounds
7. Vampyr Blood Bath
8. Friday the 13th: Camp Blood- I got a lot of people telling me not to go on this one, and this would have to be last on outside scenery as well.

I did not go into any shows, but Bill and Teds sounded very good from the outside.

Tips for HHN: get at least an express pass or an RIP tour. take comfortable shoes. I took my shoes off, which helped a lot, but because of all the beer bottles and broken glass I put them back on until we got back outside the park. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN!!! Stay until 2am...they do not close the back of the lines until 2am and they do not close the entrance to the houses.

Tips overall: Get an express pass, and if going to HHN after the other two parks, get at the doors at 9am to cover everything.

If you want to finish more than I did, you may want both express passes (HHN and US/IOA) and maybe get a hotel and go to the one park one day and then go to the other park and HHN on the other. The money they charge for the express passes is worth it.

that article was soooo well written, i re-read it twice and i now feel like I went too! haha
just for information, how much do they charge for those passes?
How much is it to enter the park? I'm assuming you can get a 2 day pass? or can you not?

when next i'm in florida, Orlando is sure to be visited!

HHN goes only until the 3rd of November, but other events include Mardi Gras, New Years, and 4th of July. http://www.universalorlando.com/ <---That is where you will find everything. I think the average prices with the express pass was about $120, but it is very worth it. I do get discounts here in florida, so that price may change. If you order ealy, you can also get discounts. I would recommend the Portifino Hotel if you are going to stay over night. you can get 2-day, 2-park passes, and you can get year long and 2-year, 2-park passes (which is what I have.) Universal is one of the better parks in Florida.

thanks for the info! We do have parks similar to that up here, Ontario Place (http://www.ontarioplace.com) and
Canada's Wonderland (http://www.canadaswonderland.com) some with their own Halloween Haunt events.
There is also Marineland (http://www.marinelandcanada.com) down in Niagara Falls area (which i went to this past summer) .

But all theme parks here are seasonal due to the weather, and generally are only open from May through to early October, though Wonderland has extended its operating schedule to the last weekend of October for this year due to the unusually warm October we are experiencing.

thanks also for the recommendation of the hotel. I checked it online, that is one awesome looking hotel!

TS NOEL UPDATE

Noel is now a TS going on a hurricane. I currently think Noel is a 50kt TS with a pressure of 994-997mb and falling. I am holding a lot of cards in my hand right now. They include a possible trip to Florida, The Bahamas, Jamaica, a definite trip to Haiti, and Cuba, and a Hurricane card. Im not gonna say much more than that until my forecast at 11p tonight.

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

Advisory 102807

Noel is nearing Haiti and nearing hurricane strength.

Image

There is a Hurricane Watch in effect for the eastern quarter of Cuba. People in this area should be preparing for Hurricane force winds in the next 2 days. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for all of Haiti and SW DR. Those in this area will likely be, or are currently, experiencing winds of 35-65kts. This area may also want to prepare for hurricane force winds especially in western Haiti. The most damaging affect from Noel will be felt in this area, which is VERY heavy rains. More than a foot of rain is possible in localized areas of Haiti, PR, DR, and Cuba over the next few days. Effects in PR should be diminishing in the next 24 hrs. Those in the TS warning should be rushing preparations to completion. The also is a Tropical Storm Watch in Jamaica. Those in Jamaica should prepare from a glancing blow of a Tropical Storm.

Eastern Caribbean...Noel....This is under primary serious advisory mode. Noel is slowly gaining strength, however I do think that the intensification of earlier has slowed. I think current intensity is around 50-55kts. I do think Noel will reach hurricane strength before if makes landfall in Cuba. Noel will be meandering for some time in weak steering currents. I think Noel will make landfall in SW Haiti Monday between 7a-12p. I think landfall on the SE coast of Cuba will come between 6-10p on Monday. Noel will be in the Bahamas on Halloween. Trick or Treating will be a wet one in SE Florida. I expect stronger than average winds in c/s Florida early this week. There may be a Canadian impact later in Noel's life.

Update:
I am going to start doing home obs tonight at 11 once an hour (except for at night)

I will be doing a forecast tonight at 11 as well.

For now, I think Noel will make it back into the caribbean and a good chance of making it to Florida. I think SFL may very well experiance TS force winds with winds of 30mph all the way up both coasts of FL to Tampa/Space Coast.

Hey everyone,
time for a personal update. As you saw from my last update, I have my spring schedule finalized and ready to go. I'm so excited for that Met class. I am also very excited for the anatomy classes. Lots of people from HS in my anatomy classes. Along with the met class comes a field trip to Bay News 9. YAY!!

This semester is coming slowly to an end. 7 classes left in each class. This time next month I will be preparing for exams. I'm ready for it to be over. Still holding onto 4 A's and a B.

Tomorrow I am making a trip to Busch Gardens. I'm hoping to break my fear of roller coasters tomorrow with at least Montu, and possibly Sheikra. I havent ever ridden a large roller coaster unless you say Dueling Dragons is a large roller coaster. Ive only been on 4 small coasters including Dueling Dragons. I'm trying to cross of one of the things on my life list, which is to break that fear. My goal is to ride both Sheikra and The Hulk by the end of the year. Depending on time, I might ride all the rides I want to tomorrow. Ill update tomorrow night when I get back at about 9p if I can stay awake.

I'm back from Busch Gardens. I rode every ride I wanted to and more. I rode Montu 3 times (the last time in the front row-the only way to go), Scorpion once, Kumba twice, Gwazi twice ( once for Tiger and once for Lion-I hated Lion, still have a headache from it-loved Tiger), Rhino Rally, the sky ride, the train, and the Big One Sheikra. Thats a total of 12 rides. Kumba is the one that is gonna take the most getting used to. On Sheikra, the worst part is the straight-down drop, after that its cake. I rode Sheikra at night so I could see all of Tampa in lights. Montu is my new favorite.

On the way there, we went from Macdill, down Bayshore Blvd, into downtown tampa, through ybor, and then into a town my family shouldnt have gone into. In that part of town, I felt like at any time I could have been shot. I was scared for quite a time. Just on the other side of that town we could see sheikra popping up above the trees. Many parts of my "scenic route" were new places to me.

Jungala update: Much more development especially vertically. The treehouse is now moderatly easy to pick out. The features are slowly coming to. You better believe Ill be making a trip to Jungala in April 2008.

Overall, I had a good time. I conquered 5 new coasters tonight. WOW!! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: You better bet, I am proud of myself tonight. I have reached half of my goal tonight by beating sheikra, the other half comes New Years Eve when I go to Universal. 2007 this year is going to go with a big bang!

Re: Fact789's - Busch Gardens Conquest (11-10-07)

#99 Postby JonathanBelles » Tue Nov 20, 2007 6:37 pm

Time for another update:

Weather
weather has been quite delightful except for the bit to hot temps. Wish we had a bit more rain too, but I have rain coming. Isolated Cumulus clouds out there now. A little muggy too.

College Update:
Every thing is going very well. The semester is now rolling down with one paper or test in each class left. I found out my exam schedule today, not too pleased, 3 exams at 8:10a and 2 at 10:10am. I do have Wednesday off for that week though. My grades stand at a 3.8GPA for right now and that can only go up. Grades stand at this: Government: 95.5 (A), Earth Science: 105* (A+), Composition 1: 88* (B+), College Algebra: 94.3 (A), and Macroeconomics: 93 (A). I never thought I would still be at equilibrium, much less above equilibrium, in any of my classes. This is as of 11/20/07 and at the end of Week 14/16. I have to bring up that Comp I grade, a 3.8 GPA is low for me as of late...lol

*Estimated

High School Update
My senior year is coming together now. The schedule sounds as is: I just bought senior T and Hoodie last week, Senior Panoramic Pic is next week. Senior Appreciation Day     is on 12/21. Grad Bash/Senior Breakfast is 4/25/08. and Graduation is 6/3/08!!!!!!!!!! On this note, Coke and Universal Studios have partnered up and will be offering a VIP Grad Bash ticket. It will be given upon the redemption of mycokerewards points. If anyone has any that they aren't gonna use, send me a PM with the code. :D Thanks in advance. Im still going to be going to the HS for Interact Club. Not much other news from the HS. I cant wait until I graduate. One year after I graduate HS, Ill be getting my first College Degree (AA) YAY!

Universal Update:
I am still going to the Grinchmas celebration and the New Years fireworks on New Years eve. I am still planning on going through with my plan to go on The Hulk during my visit. I now have the plan for Grad Bash, meaning another trip to Universal/IOA in April '08. I hope the Simpson Ride will be opening before I go for Grad Bash. I will be on Harry Potter Park watch when I am there both times. Not much other news here.

I think I will update toward the end of November.

Just read through this; marvelously real (duh) and quaint, while (at least) fairly interesting as well. Keep it up!
