Just a little curious.....
Does anyone think the Raleigh, NC area will get any measurable snow/ice this Winter.... Or will it be like the Spring...NO Moisture to speak of? We really need a good snow fall to help with the drought. Just curious as to what your thoughts are.

Re: Just a little curious.....
Friday will be more interesting as it approaches.
WED NIGHT-THU NIGHT...MODELS DEPICT MILLER-A TYPE CYCLOGENESIS NEAR
THE GULF COAST WED NIGHT TRACKING NE TO THE MID ATLC COAST BY
DAYBREAK FRI. MODEL PARTIAL THICKNESS SCHEMES SHOW WARMING OF
MIDLEVEL AIR...BUT RESIDUAL COLD AIR DAMMING IN LOWER LEVELS AND
POTENTIAL POTENTIAL FOR PCPN TO START AS SOME LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR
SLEET IN THE NW PIEDMONT IF PCPN ADVANCES NE BEFORE DAYBREAK THU.
GIVEN THE PROJECTION RANGE AND NUMBER OF MODEL ITERATIONS LEFT TO
RESOLVE THE PATTERN...ONLY A CHANCE OF RAIN WILL BE INDICATED AT
THIS TIME FOR THU AND THU NIGHT. LOWS WED NIGHT 30-35. HIGHS THU 40
NW TO 55 SE. LOWS THU NIGHT MID TO UPPER 30S.
FRI...THE PATTERN IN BOTH GFS AND ECMWF EVOLVES TO A DEEP TROUGH
ACROSS NORTH AMERICA WITH AN AXIS OVER THE PLAINS TO THE SRN MS
VALLEY. DEPENDING ON SHORT WAVES IN THE SOUTHERN STREAM...TOO EARLY
TO RESOLVE AT THIS RANGE... WE COULD SEE ADDITIONAL PCPN EVENTS AND
GULF TO EAST COAST CYCLOGENESIS WITH THIS PATTERN AFTER DAY 7.
TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN NEAR TO SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL.

Well dang. Looks like another bust...at least for Central South Carolina. Temps will just be too warm. Here is to crossing fingers for another chance later this season....

Re: Just a little curious.....
Chance looking okay here in the Northern Piedmont of North Carolina for Thursday Mornings event. Looks like temperatures will be cold enough to support a snow/sleet mixture starting in between 1am and 4am thursday. Looking at the latest model's temperatures should be set just right, for the chance of wintry precipitation. But it still depends on the track of the area of Low Pressure when it comes out of the ( GOM ).

I thought this might be more than just a cold rain for you. Looks pretty good for some winter precip for you now.

S2K Supporter... I hope you are right!!! We want to see some snow, seems to be more like ice for this event.. Maybe before the winter season is over we will see a good measurable snowfall. Take care.

I am Lowpressure, the S2K supporter tag is if you contribute to the site monitarily.
The NAM recently came in colder than previous runs, which means better chance for frozen precip. Your local forecast should be responding to the latest model runs. DP are running real low in the entire area.

Sorry about that Lowpressure, I didn't mean to get your name wrong. Well it looks like this storm was a bust. Hopefully we will have the chance for another storm with some measurable snowfall soon. Thanks.
