On radar, looks like it has only slightly more of a Westward movement than the SSE to NNW orientation of Padre Island. It is closing in on land, but it'll take a few hours, IMHO.

In the radar it looks to be moving NW-ward, which will keep the eye over the water for a longer period of time.

I don't think it is. Usually you would see an outer eyewall forming and the inner eyewall slowly diminishing. What I see, is an eye that got slightly clouded over.

Yeah wxmann_91, guess from the way I worded that, it was simply restating the obvious.

What I meant was that Beulah had a mean wind impact that caused damage, but then also horrible flooding in the RGV.

I think - unofficially of course - that given the pressure and continued excellent sat presentation that Dolly is probably closer to major hurricane status than the reports have shown thus far.

So I think there will be significant wind damage at SPI, Arroyo City, Port Isabel, and maybe as far north as Port Mansfield.

And I'm very, very worried about extreme rainfall and devastating inland flooding in the RGV.

Bad, bad deal for S. Texas.

It's really funny how these things do little 'dances' to avoid land interaction. Looks (to me, IMHO, not a seasoned wobble watcher) like she will just miss Brownsville/SPI to the northeast. She will probably need to go due west to go in at SPI.
