Are you sure you're looking at the center? It seems to me you're looking at a dry slot that's NORTH of the actual center.

The local met showed the diagram with mileage and the open center was about 27-28 miles off of the coast. I don't think that the met was mistaken. He still had it moving WNW.

Again, visible can be deceiving when it comes to direction for weaker storms, which is why last night I said it was going southward when it was anything but. Radar is the best way to go I just think what you're looking at is a dry slot which does look headed for around Beaumont but I think the actual center is heading for the northeastern tip of GLS island. It will miss Houston but only by a tad.

I agree with faster that the center is still pretty close to the NHC points. This storm is just very asymmetrical at this point and although the center may hit Galveston, most of the worst weather could possibly stay to the N./E. side of Houston.

and remembering the center is close to the southern end of convection it might make more sense what I'm saying. IDK for sure obviously though.

It's not the exact center, it is the northern edge of the center.

And for what it's worth, even though I'd love to see some action in Mo City, it does look like it's sliding WNW.

To my untrained eye, the center is barely South of due East of GLS, very near due East of San Luis Pass. About due South of Western edge of Vermillion Parish, or just a tad East. Any motion North of due West at all and it basically lands on or East of the Bolivar Peninsula. I can't be sure of direction as enough of the center just becoming visible, IMHO, on long range LCH radar.
