This happens all the time. I think it was really bad with Dean last year.

Wow... it's really humbling to see a tropical cyclone 'get it' and put it all together like it seems like we're seeing now...

Coop, NHC said an increase of forward speed but seems ED put the pedal to the medal in the last few hours... :D

Well, I can't say that Eddie caught some with their pants down because they pinpointed this entire area...I really thought it was more of a Galveston landfall, even tho Sabine Pass is a mere 45 mins east of Galveston but the Golden Triangle is in for a long night/morning/day.

The faster the better...Get him in and get him gone!

Ed is currently roughly 90-100 miles from his estimated landfall position, and at a forward speed of 10 mph it gives it another 8-10 hours over water before making landfall. Effects should reach Houston and Galveston by 6 am.

The center appears to be due east of central Galveston island right now (but still south of the actual city of Galveston). A westward storm motion would take Edouard into Galveston, a WNW motion into the Bolivar peninsula, and a NW motion into Sabine Pass...
