Living in Central Florida, I would say that resting easy is a bad idea.. I'll rest better once it enters the gulf and approaches a coastline...


Having said that, I have family in louisiana and tampa.. so my interests are.... wide spread.

Yeah, if it was a depression like the GFS is showing..the 500mb shows no ridge in the gulf at 72 hours..the GFS seriously needs to latch on..there is a near hurricane now!

If I'm not mistaken, many have said not to worry about intensity for the GFS. Just pay attention to the track.

Once it gets out into the lower resolution range, but short range this is hardly picking up on Gustav

Correct Metro Ag...I've been told the same thing and GFS has been pretty salty with ending track results.

If this weakens to a weak storm or depression over the next few days and makes landfall in the Yucatan as a TD or tropical wave and doesn't strengthen despite being over the NW carribbean, then I will be first in line at the buffet.
